• "I GO ON MY KNEES AND PRAY BEFORE I KISS ON SET"– ACTOR DANIEL ETIM-EFFIONG.

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about his approach to filming romantic scenes, revealing that he prays before every intimate moment on set. He said his faith keeps him grounded despite the demands and temptations of his profession.

The actor, who made his directorial debut with The Herd, explained that before shooting any romantic scene, he seeks divine guidance, describing the act as part of his worship.

“I get all my inspiration from God,” Etim-Effiong said during an interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds. “I go on my knees and pray before I go to set and kiss.”

Etim-Effiong, who has faced public criticism for his romantic roles especially after a viral scene in Summer Rain where he kissed actress Bolaji Ogunmola clarified that his focus remains on storytelling, not controversy.

“The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles means I get to have kissing scenes sometimes. But the question should go to the producers, why are they expressing affection only one way? There are other ways to show intimacy,” he said.

The 37-year-old actor, who left a successful career in engineering to pursue acting, said his decision was driven by purpose and faith.

“My family is my garden, then my work. Acting feels like a calling to me, a way to worship through storytelling,” he added.

Speaking further, the actor explained that producers often include romantic scenes in movies because of audience preference.

“The average Nollywood script says, ‘kiss passionately,’ because that’s what sells. But I believe there are braver ways to explore affection on screen,” he said.

Despite the attention his roles attract, Etim-Effiong maintained that faith, focus, and family remain his guiding principles.

“When you’re a focused person, you don’t let naysayers get to you,” he said. “You just do your job and move with purpose.”

  • Actor Derek Dixon Takes His Tyler Perry Sexual Harassment Allegations To TV.

Long-simmering sexual misconduct allegations against Tyler Perry are gaining national spotlight as ABC News aired an interview on Sept. 9 with actor Derek Dixon, who had made a harassment claim in a June lawsuit.

In a preview, Dixon recalled the first alleged incident at Perry’s home in January 2020 after drinking together.

“I got into bed and then I noticed that he climbed into bed with me as well and started rubbing my leg,” Dixon told ABC News anchor Linsey Davis. “I jumped up out of bed.”

Dixon, who appeared in Perry’s The Oval (2021–2025), claims Perry exploited male actors and hara§§ed staff. His $260 million lawsuit echoes allegations he made to The Hollywood Reporter in July. He also linked Perry to Christian Keyes’ 2023 account of abuse by a “black Hollywood billionaire,” though Keyes’ team offered no comment.

Perry’s attorney, Matthew Boyd, denied the claims. “This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,” Boyd said. “But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of hara§§ment will fail.”

Still, Dixon insists, “Unless someone has been through something where they have their control over their bodies taken away you don’t really understand the kind of feelings that you get in that moment,” he said.

He added, “Everyone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have s+x with them. My goal is to help ensure that the next generation of actors and creatives don’t have to choose between their dreams and their dignity.”

The lawsuit alleges repeated advances, sexual messages, and graping. Dixon first met Perry in 2019 at a studio event. He recalled when Perry asked if he was an actor. “And he said, ‘Yes you are. I can tell.’” Dixon said Perry later graped him again in 2021.

“All those years of trying to be an actor would just go up in smoke… I was too afraid to come forward. I knew it would be awful. And I was right,” Dixon told The Hollywood Reporter.

  • “Burnaboy, Davido, Wizkid, this idea of buying very expensive cars & rubbing it in the face of the youths, makes no sense at all. You guys don’t read the room? Don’t you see your country that Nigerians are going through very difficult times? What are your impacts in your various states and communities? Can you beat your chests and say you’ve empowered 5k, 10k youths or your fans who stream your music and made you who you are?

“Burnaboy you were once a comrade who used to call out bad government with your music, but as soon you made more money you abandoned all of that and start to buy cars and show off. You guys just wealth to feel on top because you guys know Nigerians worship money. At this point, 3 of you are üselêss to Nigerians.” — VDM calls out the Big3
