• “Not My Decision!”: Governor Muftwang Washes Hands Off Wike, Fayose’s Expulsion from PDP

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, has firmly dissociated himself from the expulsion of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and several others from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued by Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor clarified that the issue was never discussed at the PDP Governors Forum nor at the National Executive Committee (NEC) before the motion was suddenly introduced.

The statement stressed that the expulsion move does not represent Governor Muftwang’s position, especially given the delicate state of the party.

    According to the release:

“Governor Mutfwang made it clear that the matter was neither discussed by the Governors Forum nor at the NEC before the motion was presented. The proposal does not reflect his stance.”

The governor emphasized that sacking key party leaders at such a critical time is not a strategic approach to resolving the PDP’s internal crisis.

He called instead for unity, dialogue, and collective effort to rebuild and reposition the party for the challenges ahead.

  • U.S. Bill Seeks Visa Bans, Asset Freezes for Miyetti Allah Over Religious Freedom Violations.

A new bill before the United States Congress has proposed targeted sanctions on Nigerian individuals and groups accused of severe violations of religious freedom, naming the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore among entities of concern.

The legislation, introduced on Tuesday by House Representative Smith Christopher, recommends visa restrictions and asset freezes for members of the listed groups. Christopher also praised President Donald Trump for re-designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) under US law.

In the bill, “Fulani-Ethnic Militias” operating in Benue and Plateau states were also placed on the Entities of Particular Concern (EPC) list reserved for non-state actors implicated in serious religious freedom abuses. Previously designated EPCs include Boko Haram, ISIS-West Africa, ISIS-Sahel, the Taliban, and the Houthis.

The development came the same day US Senator Ted Cruz renewed pressure on Abuja, vowing to hold Nigerian officials accountable over what he described as evidence of a Christian gen+cide. Cruz, who in October proposed the Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025, said he would soon name officials he believes enabled religious persecution.

His earlier bill sought sanctions against federal or state officials accused of promoting or enforcing blasphemy laws.

The Nigerian government has consistently rejected such allegations, insisting that insecurity across the country is driven by criminal activity rather than religious motivations.

  • Universities Shut Down Nationwide as Lecturers Dare Tinubu Government.

According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, academic activities were paralysed across public universities nationwide on Monday as the Academic Staff Union of Universities commenced a two-week warning strike over unmet demands by the Federal Government.

ASUU president, Prof. Chris Piwuna, announced the strike in Abuja on Sunday, following a breakdown in negotiations.

In immediate response, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, ordered vice-chancellors to enforce a no-work-no-pay policy and submit attendance lists of academic staff within seven days.

The Nigeria Labour Congress rejected the directive, describing it as intimidation. NLC president, Joe Ajaero, warned that failure to heed ASUU’s demands after the strike would trigger broader labour action.

Universities nationwide reported total compliance. At Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, branch chairman Haruna Jibril said the strike reflected years of accumulated frustration. Lecture halls were deserted, with students seen loitering in groups.

A similar situation played out at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba; the University of Uyo; University of Ibadan; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; University of Jos and Plateau State University, Bokkos.

At some institutions, examinations were disrupted. At Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, only Veterinary Medicine students had pending papers. At Olabisi Onabanjo University and Tai Solarin University of Education, lecturers vowed to remain off duty until their demands were met.

Despite threats of withheld salaries, ASUU members insisted they were prepared to endure hardship to protect the future of public education. Piwuna dismissed attempts at division, stating: “Nobody can threaten us. We are victims, just like students.”

The eyewitness said late in the night, the suspect, a father of five, went back to Cecilia’s apartment, locked the door and gave her the beating of her life, hitting her head on the wall several times, before finally using a stone to crush her skull.

“From what we know, the man lives in Bidi-Bidi and is married with four children. The late woman, Cecilia, is separated from her husband and it was Abraham that rented the apartment for her while she runs a salon nearby,” the neighbour said.

“What happened that led to the death of Cecilia, according to what Abraham said, was that he came to her place without informing her because he was told she used to bring home other men whenever he was out of town because he is a long distance tanker driver.

“So on that Friday, he came and met a man in her apartment which caused the fight which ultimately led to her demise,” he stated.

He added that after killing Cecilia, Abraham went to the nearby Nasarawa-Gwom police station to report the murder and turn himself in. He then led the police to Cecilia’s apartment where the corpse was evacuated and taken to a mortuary while Abraham was taken into custody.

    Joshua Dariye
Dariye, who served as governor from 1999 to 2007 and was later convicted for corruption, accused two men, Emmanuel Odogwu and Franklin Gideon (alias Kelvin), of selling him a counterfeit Polo wristwatch while posing as staff members of the luxury brand.

Formal complaint dated November 19, 2024, and addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, Dariye alleged criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and obtaining money under false pretence.

“I humbly wish to complain against one Emmanuel Odogwa and one Franklin Gideon (aka Kelvin) for Criminal Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, Obtaining Money by False Pretences and Fraud,” Dariye wrote.

The ex-senator explained that in April 2024, the duo approached him, claiming to be representatives of the Polo wristwatch company and convinced him to buy a luxury timepiece for $290,000.

“I paid them the money and they promised to supply same. They did supply the Polo wrist but I discovered it was fake,” he stated.

After verification from the official Polo company, Dariye confirmed the watch was counterfeit and that the men were not affiliated with the brand.

    Suspects Unmasked
Dariye said his attempts to trace the suspects failed, noting in a follow-up police statement dated November 22, 2024, that the men were high-profile fraudsters.

Investigators later uncovered that one of the suspects’ real identities was Franklyn Ojo Jatto, not Gideon as initially claimed.

  • Henceforth, we will sue anyone who blames Fulanis for violence in Plateau Group warns.

A group under the umbrella of the Concerned Plateau Fulani Forum, CPFF, has vowed to institute legal actions against anyone including government and security agencies whenever they blame the Fulani people for the violence and killings in Plateau State.

The CPFF, blaming the Fulani people, especially herders for every act of violence in the state amounted to ethnic profiling with the aim of exterminating them or chasing them out of the state where they also belong.

In the statement signed by its Coordinator, Saleh Haruna, the Fulani group said it has noticed with dismay that anytime there is an attack anywhere in the state, government officials and security agencies are always quick to blame the Fulani whom they have given different names like ‘militias and bandits.’

Referencing the report by a fact-finding committee set up by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to investigate the remote causes persistent attacks, killings, and destruction in the state where it was revealed that at least 450 communities across 13 Local Government Areas have been destroyed and left desolate while over 12,000 lives have been lost in two decades of violence spanning 2001 and 2025 perpetrated by Fulani militias, Haruna said the report was only aimed at blaming the Fulani herders without taking into consideration that they too have suffered losses of their people and their cattle which have been rustled in several communities across the state.

“We are not happy with the regular tagging of Fulani people as bandits, criminals and aggressors whenever there is violence or attacks in any part of Plateau State,” Haruna said in the strongly worded statement.

“It is becoming a pattern, and a dangerous one for that matter, that whenever there is an attack in the state, the government and security agencies are quick to identify the perpetrators as Fulani people.

“They do this without proper investigations to identify the real culprits, forgetting that our people have also suffered massive losses of lives and cattle that have been rustled over the years.

  • Plateau Lawmaker Adamu Aliyu Surrenders to ICPC Over Alleged N850 Million Fraud

Adamu Aliyu, a serving member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, has surrendered to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and is currently being questioned over allegations of fraud.

The lawmaker turned himself in at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, September 15, following a Federal High Court order declaring him wanted. Justice Emeka Nwite issued the order after the commission informed the court that Aliyu had ignored multiple invitations to respond to fraud allegations.

The allegations stem from a petition by businessman Mohammed Jidda, who accused Aliyu of defrauding him under the pretext of facilitating a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) contract at the University of Jos valued at N850 million.

According to the petition, Aliyu, representing Jos North-North constituency, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jidda, requiring the businessman to pay N73.6 million for the contract. The amount included N52 million to a company, Imanal Concept Ltd, described as a facilitation fee.

Investigators allege that Aliyu later presented Jidda with a forged contract award letter for the construction of an indoor sports hall worth N500 million at the University of Jos. Acting on the letter, Jidda transferred the agreed funds into two bank accounts allegedly provided by Aliyu.

However, when Jidda approached the university to finalize contract documentation, the institution denied issuing such a contract. Subsequent verification confirmed that the award letter was fraudulent.

Bank records obtained by the ICPC reportedly show:

N47.8 million deposited into Aliyu’s personal account

N22.4 million into Imanal Concept Ltd’s Zenith Bank account

N3.2 million transferred directly to Aliyu

Despite repeated summonses—including messages through the Clerk of the Plateau Assembly and Aliyu’s WhatsApp—he did not respond, prompting the ICPC to seek the court order. The commission also indicated it had credible intelligence that Aliyu might attempt to flee Nigeria to avoid prosecution.
