NNPP Rejects Tsanyawa/Ghari Re-Run Results, Alleges INEC Manipulation
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has rejected the outcome of the Tsanyawa/Ghari State Constituency re-run election in Kano, accusing INEC of colluding with “unpatriotic politicians” to subvert the will of voters.
In a statement, Kano NNPP chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, said INEC acted illegally by declaring results at its headquarters instead of the constituency collation centre, and by cancelling results from 10 polling units where the Court of Appeal had ordered a re-run.
He argued that only presiding officers at polling units have the authority to cancel results, insisting that “manipulations orchestrated against our candidate cannot be condoned.”
The party, however, welcomed its victory in the Shanono/Bagwai bye-election, where Ali Alhassan of NNPP won, praising security agencies and constituents for ensuring a peaceful process.
Dungurawa vowed the NNPP would “continue to resist injustice, favoritism, and election manipulations” in Kano.
