• Bandits Shoot Prominent Resident As Zamfara Community Suffers Second Attack in One Week

Bandits launched a midnight attack on Bakura town in Zamfara State, marking the second assault on the community within a week. The gunmen shot a respected resident, Alhaji Kabiru Daket, before fleeing into the night, sparking fear and unrest among locals. The attack comes amid broader security concerns as investigations reveal that bandit networks linked to kidnapping, terrorism, and cattle rustling have migrated from Niger Republic and Nigeria’s North-West into Kwara and Niger forests. Security forces recently intercepted seven fleeing suspects from the Gbubu Forest enclave, disrupting their operations but highlighting the spread of organised criminal camps across multiple states. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the Bakura incident.

Many young Nigerians have shown support for recent coups in Africa, but security consultant Kabiru Adamu warns that such enthusiasm often overlooks the harsh realities of military dictatorship. • PDP Crisis Deepens as Wike-Backed Faction Expels Governors Makinde, Balance Mohammed & Dauda Lawal.

The internal turmoil within the PDP escalated sharply on Tuesday as the factional National Executive Committee (NEC) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ratified the expulsion of several high-profile party figures, including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).

Also expelled were former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former National Vice Chairman, Bode George; and the recently elected National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, SAN.

Tuesday’s actions follow last weekend’s contentious PDP national convention in Ibadan, where Wike and his loyalists were themselves expelled—sparking a fresh wave of confrontations.

The tension peaked at the PDP national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, where rival factions attempted to hold parallel NEC and Board of Trustees meetings, resulting in a heated standoff.

During its meeting at the secretariat, the Wike-backed factional NEC also dissolved the state executive councils in Oyo, Bauchi, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti, directing that caretaker committees be set up and new congresses conducted.

Reading the communiqué, National Secretary Senator Sam Anyanwu said, “NEC received the report of the Acting National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, detailing breaches of Articles 58(1) and 59(1), including anti-party activities, disobedience to court orders, and conduct bringing the party into disrepute.”

He added that NEC had approved disciplinary proceedings against several members, including Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben N. Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, Bala Mohammed, Oluseyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Obiechina Daniel, Woyengikuro Daniel, Mohammed Kadade Suleiman, Emmanuel Ogidi, Sumaila Adamu Burga, Umar Sani, Udom Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Enorden.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, on Thursday, led prominent party stakeholders from Kano State in declaring full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The strategic meeting, held in Abuja, brought together key APC heavyweights who also vowed to reclaim Kano State from the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Among those present were the Minister of State for Housing, Alhaji Abdullahi Atta, Senator Kawu Sumaila, House Appropriations Committee Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, and former Kano governor, Senator Kabiru Gaya, alongside several other party chieftains.

Speaking at the gathering, Ganduje emphasized the importance of unity within the APC in Kano and the need to consolidate support for President Tinubu:

“We are here to reaffirm our loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to ensure that Kano remains a stronghold of the APC in 2027. We must work together to return our party to power in the state and strengthen the President’s chances of re-election.”

  • Woman in trouble for burning girl's private part with hot knife.

IN what can best be described as man’s inhumanity to man, a seven-year-old girl is presently writhing in pain as she receives medical attention at the emergency ward of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), following severe burns around her lower body, particularly her private parts.

The development, which occurred in Magama-Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, followed after she was reportedly brutalised by her brother’s wife, identified as Suwaira Ibrahim, who allegedly burnt her private part with a hot knife.

Reports from the area indicated that the little girl was accused of being a witch by the brother’s wife through a process yet to be explained.

A resident and activist in the area, Kabiru Mohammed Abdulkadir, narrated that: “Zuwaira’s child told her that she saw the victim, Habiba (not real name), amongst a group of witches and was taken to a man to confirm whether she really belongs to a witchcraft group.

“The man told them that she is not a witch, but Zuwaira disagreed with the confirmation. They returned home from where they went and she heated a knife on fire to burn her private part, believing that if she’s a real witch, she won’t feel pain.

“It was her loud cries that disturbed the neighbours and when we got there, we saw the situation and insisted that the case be reported to police.”

In a video clip obtained by our correspondent, the little girl’s private parts and laps were burnt and had progressed to rot.

The activist added that it was the bad odour from the wound that disturbed the whole household while she found it difficult to defecate and pass urine.

  • Police Rescue Baby Buried Alive by her 20-year-old Mother in Kebbi, Suspect Arrested.

The Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old woman, Maryam Atiku, from the Nasarawa area of Kamba in Dandi Local Government Area, for allegedly attempting to kill her newborn by burying her alive.

Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, revealed that the incident occurred on June 25, 2025, when Maryam delivered a baby girl and allegedly strangled her with wrappers around the neck, covered her mouth, and buried her in a shallow grave at Malam Yaro bush.

The following day, June 26, a farmer, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad, noticed a newly dug grave on his farmland. After taking a closer look, he raised alarm, prompting residents to dig it up, only to find the baby still alive.

The infant was rushed to the General Hospital, Kamba, where doctors confirmed her to be in stable condition.

Operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) swiftly arrested the suspect, who allegedly admitted to the act during questioning.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the incident, reiterating the command’s firm stance against child abuse and gender-based violence. He urged parents and community leaders to “protect children under their care and not jeopardize their future under any circumstances.”

He further acknowledged the role of the Kebbi First Lady, Zainab Nasir, for supporting the baby’s welfare, and commended farmer Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad for his timely intervention, which saved the child’s life.

  • Former Zamfara State Central Senator, Kabiru Marafa, has accused President Bola Tinubu of showing undue favoritism to Lagos State, as reported by Punch on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025.

Senator ‎Marafa, who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), voiced his concerns during a media interview.

‎He argued that Tinubu’s position as president gave him control over vast national resources.

‎According to Senator Marafa, over N3 trillion had been directed to Lagos since Tinubu took office.

‎He said this was unfair because Lagos did not vote for Tinubu in the 2023 elections, while Zamfara did.

Sentaor ‎Marafa also claimed that most of the president’s aides were chosen from Lagos.

‎He said this showed that Tinubu prioritized his home state over regions that supported him politically.

‎In contrast, Zamfara, which delivered votes for Tinubu, received little recognition or reward.

‎The former Zamfara State senator stressed that his politics is not about personal loyalty to one leader.

‎He said he joined politics to improve the lives of his people, not to serve individuals.

‎He dismissed the idea of political slavery, insisting that fairness and equity should guide appointments and allocation of resources.

‎‎“‎If Mr President didn’t get the opportunity he got now to be the President, would he have been able to allocate resources of over N3tn to Lagos State? Would he have been able to appoint the number of aides from Lagos State, where he lost elections and won in Zamfara State? I’m not in politics to serve anybody,” he said.

  • SPD Youth leader Enemi Muhammad shot dead by police officer in Kogi.

A source told SaharaReporters on Monday that the incident occurred on July 10 at the Aija roundabout near the Attah of Igala Palace in Idah.

A Nigerian police officer, identified as Constable Kebiru Bello, has allegedly shot and killed the Zonal Youth Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Enemi Muhammad, in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.

A source told SaharaReporters on Monday that the incident occurred on July 10 at the Aija roundabout near the Attah of Igala Palace in Idah.

According to the source, three officers were sent to arrest Enemi on the orders of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ihongbe J. Swetine, following an allegation that one of their colleagues had confessed to selling a rifle to him.

The source said the officers arrived in a Toyota Camry and approached Enemi.

Meanwhile, when Enemi requested to see an arrest warrant or a formal invitation to the station, one of the officers allegedly accused him of being defiant and shot him three times. It was also gathered that after the police failed to present any warrant, Enemi attempted to flee, prompting the shooting.

The source further explained that Enemi was a strong supporter of Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, widely regarded by many as the rightful winner of the 2023 Kogi governorship election.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, the source alleged that Enemi’s support for Ajaka was seen as a grave offence by those responsible, leading to his killing without any prior invitation or warning.

The source explained that local vigilantes and naval personnel are currently guarding the police station in Idah, amid fears that enraged residents may attempt to storm the facility in protest over Enemi’s killing.

The source said: "Enemi Muhammad was murdered by the police in Idah, Kogi State, on the 10th of July, 2025. The officer who pulled the trigger is Constable Kabiru Bello."

Narrating how the situation escalated, the source said: "The officers came in a Camry car. Enemi demanded to see a warrant of arrest or a formal letter inviting him to the station. Constable Kabiru Bello responded that he was being stubborn and then shot him three times.

"Enemi was the Zonal Youth Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), a strong opposition party in Kogi State. He was a staunch supporter of Murtala Yakubu Ajaka. That alone, they said, was a big offence. There was no prior invitation issued to him before the attempted arrest."
