A shocking case of brutality has emerged from Oba community in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, where operatives of the Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Agunechemba Vigilante Group) reportedly assaulted members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on July 23, 2025.
Eyewitness accounts and disturbing video footage show the corps members being harassed, accused of internet fraud, and subjected to degrading treatment despite presenting their NYSC identification cards and wearing their uniforms.
One of the victims, Jennifer Edema Elohor, suffered the worst ordeal—beaten to stupor, stripped naked, and left bloodied and exposed while onlookers hurled demeaning and sexually abusive words at her. Other corps members were also physically assaulted, stripped, and threatened with sexual violence.
The parents and legal representatives of the victims have since petitioned the Haven360 Foundation, a human rights advocacy group, which has pledged full support in the pursuit of justice. “This is a clear case of human rights violation.
We will ensure the perpetrators are held accountable,” the foundation said in a statement. The incident has sparked outrage nationwide, with many Nigerians demanding immediate action from both the Anambra State Government and the National Youth Service Corps Directorate to protect corps members serving across the country.
As of press time, neither the vigilante group nor state authorities have issued an official response to the allegations.
