• Kenyan Police Arrest Three Nigerians Over Suspected Cyber Fraud.

Kenyan authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals for alleged cyber fraud and immigration offences after residents reported suspicious activity in a rented apartment in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

The suspects — Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel — were arrested on 12 November 2025 in a joint operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and immigration officers in Mwaliko Estate, Ngurubani.

According to Streamline, the DCI said, “A well-coordinated multi-agency raid in Mwaliko Estate has blown the lid off a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by three Nigerian nationals.”

The raid followed reports from residents about unusual movements and late-night activity in the apartment. Investigators recovered 21 phones, 79 SIM cards, a Dell laptop, and several credit cards believed to be linked to online fraud.

Authorities say the items suggest a network possibly involved in identity theft and financial scams.

Checks also showed the three were in Kenya illegally, with expired entry passes and no work permits. They claimed to be “running an online business,” but detectives are probing possible ties to wider cybercrime groups. “The three are currently cooling their heels in custody as investigators dig deeper into their network,” Streamline added.

The suspects remain in custody as forensic teams analyse the seized devices and trace possible links to other operations locally and abroad.

Their arrest comes amid a surge in cyber threats in Kenya. The Communications Authority recorded 2.54 billion incidents between January and March 2025, a major rise from late 2024. Many Kenyans have also fallen victim to phishing emails and fake text messages.

Kenya has strengthened penalties under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act of 2018 and its 2025 amendment, which impose fines of up to KSh 20 million and jail terms of up to 10 years for major cyber offences.

  • UK-based Nigerian Man, One Other Jailed for Life Over 2017 East London Murder.

A UK-based Nigerian, Lekan Akinsoji, and Sundjata Keita of St Margaret’s Court have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2017 murder of Ahmed Deen-Jah in East London.

The pair, both 27, were convicted of murder on October 9 and sentenced on Friday at the Old Bailey, London’s Central Criminal Court.

“Lekan Akinsoji, 27, of no fixed address, and Sundjata Keita, 27, of St Margaret’s Court, E12, appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday, 24 October. They both received life sentences,” the UK police said in a statement.

“Mr Akinsoji was jailed for a minimum term of 28 years, while Keita received a minimum term of 22 years.”

Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen, who led the investigation, said, “I hope the long sentences provide some measure of closure to Ahmed’s family, who have waited almost a decade for justice.”

She added, “Akinsoji and Keita launched a cold-blooded and unprovoked attack. Worse still, they then sought to evade the law—and were able to do so until 2023, when damning forensic evidence came to light.”

The case dates back to April 2, 2017, when Deen-Jah was stabbed in a convenience store near Custom House station in Newham. Both men were initially arrested but later released due to lack of evidence.

A 2023 review uncovered fresh forensic findings and detailed phone analysis that placed Keita’s device in the car used for the killing. The vehicle was later discovered burned in Epping Forest.

According to police, “the court heard how Ahmed’s murder was a result of ‘tit for tat’ violence between gangs and that both men had been driving around the area in a stolen car, looking for people they suspected of being in a rival gang.”

“CCTV played in court showed Akinsoji ambushing Ahmed and following him into the shop before stabbing him,” police added.

  • We Have Already Submitted Your Documents To EFCC – CCB to Nyesom Wike.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has found himself embroiled in a fresh controversy over allegations of secret acquisition of multimillion-dollar properties in Florida, USA.

According to reports, Wike attempted to amend his asset declaration with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to include the properties, but was informed that his original declaration had already been forwarded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for thorough verification and investigation.

Sources close to the minister revealed that Wike was unsettled by the development, which could potentially lead to a forensic audit of his financial dealings. Investigations by some media outlets uncovered a pattern of concealment and alleged violations of Nigeria’s asset declaration laws by the minister. Records obtained showed that Wike acquired a $2 million mansion in Winter Springs, Florida, registered under the names of his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, and their three children.

Further investigations revealed that three multimillion-dollar homes in affluent Florida communities were purchased covertly using cash transactions and swiftly transferred to their children via quitclaim deeds, executed by Wike’s wife. These transactions, spanning from 2021 to 2023, raised suspicions of attempts to keep assets beyond the regulatory grasp of Nigerian anti-corruption bodies.

The CCB informed Wike that his file had already been transmitted to the EFCC for verification, and the anti-graft agency is now conducting a forensic audit of Wike’s declarations, ownership details, and possible infractions. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), advocacy groups, and international NGOs have launched campaigns demanding an exhaustive probe into Wike’s financial dealings, citing suspected diversion of public funds and illicit enrichment.

Wike’s camp has denied the allegations, dismissing them as politically motivated attacks. However, documentary evidence filed in US property registries tells a different story. An EFCC source said the minister is “playing with fire” and that the ongoing forensic financial investigations will uncover the truth. As the investigation unfolds, Wike’s reputation and future hang in the balance.

  • Alleged $4.5bn fraud: Emefiele’s phone forensic test stalled as EFCC, defence clash.

The forensic examination of a mobile phone central to the $4.5 billion alleged fraud trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has stalled following a sharp disagreement between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the defence team over how to carry out the court-ordered test.

At the resumed hearing before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Special Offences Court on Tuesday, both parties traded accusations over who was responsible for the failure of the forensic process, which had been scheduled for September 24 and 25, 2025.

Emefiele, alongside his co-defendant, Henry Omoile, is facing a 19-count charge of alleged fraud, corruption, and abuse of office.

The EFCC had tendered an iPhone 12 containing WhatsApp messages as part of its evidence against the former apex bank chief.

The court had earlier ordered that the device, marked as “iPhone 2”, be subjected to a scientific forensic analysis by experts representing both sides to determine the authenticity of the WhatsApp conversations in dispute.

However, Emefiele’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, told the court that the exercise could not proceed because the EFCC repeatedly obstructed efforts to access the device.

According to him, despite the presence of representatives from the prosecution, the defence, and the court’s Registrar, the commission refused to produce the phone for examination.

Ojo said: “The first obstacle was that the EFCC insisted the device could not be fully exposed to the team. Then, on the second day, even when the Registrar clarified that your lordship’s order covered both the phone and its WhatsApp contents, the EFCC representatives refused to produce it when the Apple expert demanded it. We were told a categorical ‘No.’”

  • Tinubu’s Minister in Forgery Scandal as University disowns Certificate.

A major controversy has erupted over the academic qualifications of Nigeria’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Uche Nnaji, after the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), formally disowned the Bachelor of Science degree certificate he has been parading for decades.

In a letter dated October 2, 2025, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, confirmed that although Mr. Nnaji was admitted into the institution in 1981 to study Biological Sciences, he never completed his programme and was therefore not awarded any degree.

“From every available record, we are unable to confirm that Mr. Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji graduated from the University of Nigeria in July 1985. There are no records of his completion of studies,” Prof. Ortuanya wrote.

“The University of Nigeria, Nsukka DID NOT and consequently, COULD NOT have issued the purported certificate, or at all, in July 1985 to Mr. Nnaji,” he added.

The minister’s credentials have under scrutiny since October 2023 after a whistleblower tip about inconsistencies in his documents.

Forgery Allegations Dating Back to 2023
Questions over Mr. Nnaji’s academic records first surfaced in July 2023 when President Bola Tinubu submitted his name to the Senate for ministerial confirmation. Critics alleged that the politician neither completed his studies at UNN nor participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, despite presenting both certificates to various federal institutions.

During his screening on August 1, 2023, Mr. Nnaji confidently told lawmakers that he obtained a degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from UNN in 1985 and served in Jos the following year. His statements were broadcast live on multiple television stations.

However, forensic scrutiny of the certificates submitted by the minister revealed glaring inconsistencies that cast doubt on their authenticity.

Four young men who turned a Lagos hotel into a hub for online scams have been imprisoned by the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, which found them guilty of internet fraud.

In his verdict, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu, convicted Martins Emmanuel, Abeeb Olamide Asiru, Iremide Owolabi and Quadri Abdulrasheed Adio on charges of impersonation and online fraud.

A statement on the official Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) X handle said the quartet were arrested on August 29, 2025, when its operatives raided Mambillah Hotel in Ikorodu.

The sting operation followed intelligence that the premises were being used as a base by a syndicate of internet fraudsters.

Mobile phones and fraudulent documents were recovered from the suspects and tendered in court as evidence. After reviewing their confessional statements and the forensic analysis of their devices, the judge ruled that the EFCC had proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

  • Ex-CBN governor Emefiele defeats EFCC in court, gets approval to hire forensic experts.

The Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja has granted Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), permission to engage forensic experts to examine WhatsApp conversations and a mobile device tendered as evidence in his fraud trial.

Ruling on Monday, Rahman Oshodi, the presiding judge, gave the order after Emefiele’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo (SAN), applied for leave to allow an independent forensic expert to inspect the handset, marked “iPhone 2,” and verify the authenticity of the extracted WhatsApp messages already admitted as exhibits.

“The defence seeks the court’s leave to call a forensic expert to examine both the mobile device and printed conversations allegedly linked to the defendants,” Ojo told the court.

Emefiele is standing trial alongside his co-defendant, Henry Omoile, on 19 counts bordering on abuse of office, receiving gratification, corruption, and fraudulent property transactions involving $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion.

The charges were filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, Chineye Okezie, counsel to the EFCC, opposed the application, arguing that exhibits admitted during trial should remain in the court’s custody until proceedings are concluded.

She faulted the defence for failing to disclose the name of the forensic laboratory or the qualifications of the personnel expected to handle the device.

Okezie urged the court to mandate that the EFCC’s director of the forensic department select the laboratory, ensure the exercise is monitored by a prosecution-nominated representative, and preserve the chain of custody.

  • Court Approves Emefiele’s Bid To Examine WhatsApp Evidence In Alleged $4.5bn Fraud Cas.

A Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday granted former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, permission to subject WhatsApp chats and a mobile phone admitted as evidence in his ongoing fraud trial to forensic examination.

The trial Judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi delivered the ruling on Monday in the case where Emefiele and his co-defendant, Henry Omoile, are standing trial on 19 counts of corruption, bribery, gratification through agents, abuse of office, and fraudulent property transactions involving $4.5 billion and ₦2.8 billion.

The charges were brought against the defendants by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Emefiele’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, had earlier moved an application asking the court to allow an independent forensic expert to review the device—an “iPhone 2 and the WhatsApp conversations allegedly linked to the defendants.

He argued that the defence was entitled to verify the authenticity of the messages presented as exhibits in the proceedings.

The EFCC, represented by counsel C. C. Okezie, strongly opposed the application. Okezie contended that exhibits once tendered are under the court’s custody and must remain intact until judgment is delivered.

She further noted that the defence had not disclosed the name of the forensic laboratory or the qualifications of the specialists it intended to engage.

To ensure transparency, the prosecution suggested that the EFCC’s Director of Forensic Department be tasked with identifying the laboratory and that the exercise be monitored by its nominated officer to preserve the chain of custody.

  • Top Ansaru Leaders captured during a Major Counter-Terrorism Operation.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has announced the capture of two top leaders of Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi-Biladis Sudan (Ansaru), an Al-Qaeda affiliate that splintered from Boko Haram in 2012.

The arrests, described as one of Nigeria’s most decisive counter-t+rrorism operations, were carried out between May and July 2025 in collaboration with the Armed Forces, intelligence services, and other security agencies.

Those captured include Mahmud Muhammad Usman (Abu Bara’a), Ansaru’s self-proclaimed “Emir” and coordinator of sleeper cells nationwide, and Mahmud al-Nigeri (Mallam Mamuda), his deputy and leader of the “Mahmudawa” faction. Both had been on Nigeria’s most-wanted list for years.

Authorities link them to several high-profile attacks, including the 2022 Kuje prison break, the 2013 abduction of French engineer Francis Collomp, the 2019 k+napping of Alhaji Musa Umar Uba, the Emir of Wawa’s abduction, and strikes on critical infrastructure.

The operation, centered around Ansaru’s forest enclaves near Kainji National Park, also recovered w+apons, materials, and digital evidence now under forensic review. Officials believe the intelligence will help dismantle remaining Ansaru cells and disrupt links to foreign terror networks in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

ONSA hailed the arrests as a “decisive blow” to Ansaru, saying the capture of Abu Bara’a and Mallam Mamuda marks the group’s most significant setback since its inception.

  • BREAKING: Nigerian NSA Confirms Arrest of Two Leaders of Al-Qaeda-Linked Ansaru Group

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has confirmed the arrest of Mahmud Muhammad Usman (aka Abu Bara’a), the self-styled Emir of Ansaru, and his deputy Mahmud al-Nigeri (aka Mallam Mamuda) in a months-long intelligence-led operation.

Ribadu said the two men, long on Nigeria’s most-wanted list, were behind major terrorist attacks including the 2022 Kuje prison break, the 2013 abduction of French engineer Francis Collomp, the 2019 kidnapping of Magajin Garin Daura, Musa Umar Uba, and the abduction of the Emir of Wawa.

Abu Bara’a was identified as the coordinator of Ansaru sleeper cells nationwide, while Mamuda, who trained under foreign jihadists in Libya, led the group’s “Mahmudawa” faction around Kainji National Park.

Ribadu noted that the arrests have “effectively dismantled” Ansaru’s central command, calling it “the most decisive blow against the group since its inception in 2012.” He added that caches of materials and digital evidence recovered are undergoing forensic analysis to further disrupt the group’s networks in Nigeria and the Sahel.

  • When they checked the manager’s phone, two of the three numbers were saved on his phone Ibrahim.

According to a report by the Punch on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the investigation into the disappearance of 27-year-old Noimot Olawale has taken a critical turn with the discovery of damning digital evidence that directly links the prime suspect to the hotel where she worked. Police examining the hotel manager's mobile device uncovered extensive communication with the wanted Islamic cleric, who stands accused of a gruesome murder in Ikorodu.

"When they checked the manager's phone, two of the three numbers were saved on his phone," revealed Noimot’s brother, Ibrahim Olawale, confirming the existence of multiple contact entries for the fugitive cleric. This digital footprint shows repeated calls between the two men in the days surrounding Noimot's disappearance, including several exchanges on the very evening she was last seen.

The manager, currently in police custody, has admitted knowing the cleric but maintains he had no knowledge of any criminal activities. However, forensic teams working at the cleric's abandoned residence have uncovered blood evidence and what appear to be hastily cleaned crime scenes, adding physical proof to the growing digital trail.

Noimot's mobile phone was last traced to the same Ikorodu neighborhood where neighbors recently reported discovering dismembered human remains in plastic bags. The victim's family, while devastated by these developments, expressed cautious relief that the investigation appears to be making progress. "This digital evidence proves someone knows what happened to my sister," said her brother Ibrahim Olawale. "We need answers, and we need justice."

Authorities have expanded their search beyond Lagos state borders, circulating the cleric's details to security agencies nationwide. Meanwhile, women's rights organizations are citing this case in their calls for better protections for hospitality workers, particularly those in vulnerable positions. The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that all available resources area being deployed to solve what has become one of the state's most high-profile missing persons cases this year.

When contacted for comment, Police PRO Omolola Odutola clarified that the cause of death remains unconfirmed, according to Sahara Reporters.

She emphasized that the incident is still under investigation and discouraged speculation over suicide without forensic confirmation. “The police are yet to establish her actual cause of death,” she said.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the critical need for community mental health awareness, especially in spiritual environments. As authorities continue investigations, the public awaits clarity on whether foul play was involved or if the death was indeed self-inflicted.

  • How AAUA Students Were Abducted and Murdered By Landlord — Police Reveal Details.

New details have emerged on the tragic abduction and murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Friday Abah (25) and Eloho Okah (19), who went missing on June 20.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed on Wednesday that the victims were kidnapped by armed robbers and later killed. Okah was also raped before being murdered. Lawal said the police began investigating following a petition filed by the victim’s family on June 24.

Forensic tracking led detectives to Lagos, where one Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, 38, was found with an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the students. He confessed to buying the phone from one Ojo Michael, who was arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti. The victims’ Lexus RX 350 was also recovered. Michael confessed to participating in the crime and named Oladele Femi—the landlord of one of the victims—as the mastermind.

Femi allegedly recruited Michael and another accomplice, “Kola” (still at large), to abduct and rob the students. ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Abah’s account during captivity.

According to police, Okah unmasked Michael’s identity, prompting her and her friend’s execution to prevent exposure. Their bodies were dumped in different locations between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti.

Femi has also been arrested and confessed to initiating the plan. The female victim’s body was recovered near Ode-Ekiti and taken for autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to retrieve Abah’s remains, believed to be dumped in a river. Lawal described the case as a heartbreaking example of premeditated violence and betrayal, pledging justice for the victims.

AAUA Student Union President, Akeem Ologbon, called the incident devastating, stating that the union acted swiftly by involving security agencies to aid in locating the students.

According to legal filings, Aigbokhan and his accomplices used a Business Email Compromise (BEC) scheme to impersonate the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, deceiving donors into sending funds to crypto wallets they controlled.

In one case, on December 26, 2024, a donor received a f+ke email from *.com—closely resembling the official *.com used by committee co-chair Steve Witkoff. The victim sent 250,300 USDT.ETH, valued at over ₦400 million, to the fra¥dsters’ wallet.

Within days, 215,000 USDT.ETH was moved to various crypto wallets. The FBI intervened and asked crypto company Tether to freeze the funds, which it did on December 31.

Investigations traced the fra¥dulent activity to Aigbokhan’s account, created in October 2024, which had no prior deposits until it received proceeds from the sc+m. Forensic analysis also linked multiple fra¥dulent email accounts and IP addresses back to Lagos, confirming Aigbokhan’s involvement.

The FBI has since seized over ₦60 million in crypto from two wallets connected to Aigbokhan, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Blaylock Jr requesting a court order for forfeiture. An arrest warrant is also being pursued against Aigbokhan in connection with the cryptocurrency fra¥d and money laundering charges.

  • Release NDDC audit or I’ll resign Wike dares presidency.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to release the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claiming it implicates former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Wike responded to corruption allegations made against him by Amaechi.

He asserted that the audit report proves that Amaechi’s wife received N4 billion monthly from the NDDC to train women in the Niger Delta.

Wike declared he would resign from his position as FCT Minister if the report, once made public, does not indict Amaechi.

“Amaechi’s wife is not an industrialist, never was,” Wike said. “Every month, her company received N4 billion from the NDDC that’s N48 billion in a year. The forensic audit captured all of this. The problem is, it was buried by the former Attorney General, Abubakar Malami.”

The former Rivers State governor repeated his call to President Tinubu.

“Please, for the sake of Nigerians, release the forensic audit report. If it doesn’t confirm what I’ve said, I will resign. I don’t cling to office.”

Wike further alleged that the audit report was deliberately suppressed to shield powerful individuals implicated in the scandal.
