According to governor, this initiative, building on the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership announced last month, is projected to generate an staggering $450 million in annual revenue, create over 350,000 jobs ranging from direct farm roles to indirect supply chain positions and dramatically enhance food security across Nigeria. Spanning 10,000 hectares, the project will integrate large-scale poultry farming with maize and soybean cultivation for feed production, addressing chronic feed shortages and slashing costs for local farmers.

Construction on the pilot phase is slated to break ground in Kaduna next month, positioning the state as the epicenter of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda for agricultural self-sufficiency.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the return of 1,000 teachers earlier recruited in 2023, marking one of the most decisive steps his administration has taken in recent weeks.

The directive was issued on Tuesday through the Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB), Sam Ogeh, who announced that the teachers must undergo a fresh revalidation exercise before resuming duties.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly sharply criticised the governor over the state of public schools, accusing the executive of failing to address worsening infrastructure and a severe shortage of teachers.

According to the RSUBEB chairman, the governor’s latest order is aimed at filling the teaching gaps that have persisted across primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

Ogeh explained that the administration is determined to restore manpower in schools and ensure learning conditions improve significantly.

He said, “In fulfilment of his promise to bridge the manpower gap in public schools across Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of new teachers across the state.
As part of this initiative, His Excellency has directed the revalidation of the 1000 teachers recruited in 2023.”

He added that the affected teachers are expected to present themselves at the RSUBEB office on Wednesday for documentation. The exercise will take place at the board’s headquarters along Elechi Beach, Port Harcourt.

The announcement followed a tense session at the House of Assembly, during which lawmakers examined a report presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Aforji Igwe.

Igwe described the condition of some schools as alarming after leading an inspection of Township State School 1 and 2 on Moscow Road, where he reported broken structures, poor sanitation, and insufficient teaching staff.

During the deliberation, Speaker Martin Amaewhule faulted the executive arm for failing to prioritise education despite claims that previous administrators left behind substantial funds.
He questioned why classrooms remained overcrowded and in poor condition.

Lawmakers also pointed to situations where one teacher handles two classes at the same time, while some schools operate without electricity, toilets, or basic learning materials.

6 BRIGADE SUSTAINS MAJOR OFFENSIVE IN TARABA: BANDITS’ CAMPS DESTROYED, TWO NEUTRALISED, WEAPONS RECOVERED AND KEY SUSPECT ARRESTED

Troops of Headquarters 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intensified their ongoing offensive across Taraba State, recording multiple operational successes that include the destruction of bandits’ camps, neutralisation of armed elements, recovery of weapons, and the arrest of a key suspect linked to criminal activities in the region.

On 2 December 2025, troops launched a deliberate clearance operation under Operation Zafin Wuta across Shiid, Agia and Tyozua villages in Takum LGA following credible intelligence on the activities of armed groups within the Tor-Tser general area. As the soldiers advanced towards the mountainous hideouts, the bandits fled deeper into the rugged terrain, abandoning their camps. The troops conducted a detailed search before destroying the camps, which the criminals had previously claimed were inaccessible to security forces. In Tyozua, the fleeing bandits set ablaze a wooden bridge in an attempt to obstruct troop movement, but the soldiers pressed forward with determination and forced the criminals across the power line into neighbouring Benue State. During exploitation, one suspect, identified as Dahiru Maigari, was arrested and is currently undergoing preliminary investigation.

In a related development, troops conducted a fighting patrol around Karim Lamido and its environs on 4 Dec 25 to deny bandits freedom of movement. While moving towards Usmanu, the patrol came under fire from armed bandits concealed behind Wudompi Community. The soldiers responded swiftly, repelling the attack and neutralising two of the armed men. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition, with no casualties recorded on the part of own troops. The attackers are assessed to be members of the Karimjo faction responsible for recent attempts at regrouping within the area. Security within Karim Lamido remains calm, with troops maintaining heightened alertness.

Reacting to the sustained operational successes, Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the professionalism and gallantry displayed by the troops. He stated that the series of operations once again demonstrates that no terrain is inaccessible to the Nigerian Army and no criminal enclave is beyond reach. He assured residents across Taraba State that the Brigade remains unwavering in its resolve to pursue criminals wherever they may flee and to sustain pressure until all threats to peace.

Gov. Buni Approves Scholarships for 28,346 Yobe Students, Doubles All Allowances

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni , has approved the disbursement of scholarships and bursaries to 28,346 Yobe State indigenes currently studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, in what has been described as one of the most far-reaching educational interventions by any state government in recent times.

The approval underscores the Governor’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, access to education, and human capital development as critical pillars for sustainable growth.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board (YSSB), Dr. Kagu Abubakar, Yobe State University recorded the highest number of beneficiaries with 7,636 successful applicants, reflecting the steady growth of the institution and the increasing enrolment of Yobe indigenes in higher education. Students of other universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and specialized institutions across the country are also captured in the comprehensive beneficiary list.

Dr. Kagu disclosed that Governor Buni has further approved a 100 percent increment in all categories of scholarship payments, effectively doubling what students previously received.
Under the new payment regime, PGDE, Master’s and PhD students will now receive ₦110,000, up from the former ₦55,000.

While undergraduate students will receive ₦46,000, as against ₦23,000 previously paid. HND, NCE and National Diploma students will now receive ₦34,000, instead of the former ₦17,000, while students pursuing other Diploma, Certificate and Consultancy programmes will now receive ₦26,000, up from ₦13,000.

The increment, he noted, is in recognition of the prevailing economic realities and the rising cost of education across the country.

To ensure transparency, efficiency and smooth implementation of the exercise, the Scholarship Board recently convened a joint stakeholders’ meeting involving representatives of the House Committee on Higher Education, officials of the Ministry of Higher Education, Youth and Sports, education Focal Persons, as well as student leaders from various tertiary institutions.

The meeting reviewed the operational framework, harmonized schedules and addressed logistical issues to guarantee the successful execution of the exercise nationwide.

In line with established procedures, Dr. Kagu stated that the names, admission details and academic records of all successful beneficiaries will be forwarded to their respective institutions and recognized student bodies, while a comprehensive timetable for the disbursement exercise will be officially released to guide students and institutions accordingly. This, he emphasized, is to prevent congestion, ensure orderliness and eliminate sharp practices.

The Executive Secretary conveyed the gratitude and appreciation of students, parents and guardians across Yobe State to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his continued and consistent investment in education.

He noted that the scholarship scheme has remained a major source of relief for thousands of families, improved school retention rates, and strengthened access to tertiary education for indigent but brilliant students across the state.

Dr. Kagu assured that the Office of the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Scholarship Board will continue to provide regular updates to all schools, beneficiaries and the general public on developments relating to the exercise, stressing that the Board remains committed to accountability, transparency and timely service delivery in the execution of its mandate.

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 51-year-old Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu for the brutal murder of his 19-year-old cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, just days after she reported him for years of sexual abuse, abduction, and threats to her life. Police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the arrest, describing the incident as a tragic and gruesome crime that occurred in Nsukka during the yuletide season.

Loveth had lodged a complaint on November 28, recounting how she lived with the suspect since age 13, enduring repeated abuse and forced confinement. Despite initially fleeing, she was allegedly abducted again by the suspect, who threatened her with a firearm. After reporting the matter to police and undergoing medical examination, her family opted not to pursue charges immediately due to cultural considerations.

However, the situation turned fatal when the suspect stormed a pharmacy where Loveth was receiving treatment and violently attacked her, smashing her head on the floor. She died at the hospital shortly after. The suspect was immediately rearrested and is now in police custody. Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, describing it as a cult-related assault and stating that tactical teams have been deployed to track the kidnappers and secure the students’ release. A student who escaped the attack recounted how the gunmen killed the hostel’s security dog, fired shots at fleeing occupants, and pursued her into the darkness. Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully intercepted a vehicle, conveying substance, suspected to be Cannabis Sativa during its operations in Agbede, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Lieutenant HASSAN ABDULLAHI in a press statement says,
306 parcels weighing 276 kilograms were recovered from the vehicle on 1st December 2025.

He explains that troops on patrol, intercepted a red Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 325 LA transporting the substance from Ekiti to Borno State.

The driver, he said attempted to evade arrest upon sighting the check point but was eventually pursued and apprehended along the Apata–Lokoja road in Kogi.

The seized items and the driver have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kogi State Command for further action.

TROOPS STORM TERROR HIDEOUTS, RESCUE 12 KIDNAP VICTIMS IN DARING PRE-DAWN OPERATION

In a remarkable display of courage and compassion, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have brought hope back to 12 families after rescuing seven women and five children from Boko Haram captivity in the unforgiving terrain of the Mandara Mountains.

The victims, who were on transit were abducted on 14 November along the Gwoza Limankara road. They regained their freedom on Sunday following a daring clearance mission conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY IV and Diligent Search.

Led by the vigilant 26 Task Force Brigade, with support from Hybrid Forces, Hunters and vigilantes, the troops launched a pre-dawn assault through the rugged mountain foothills toward Uvaha. The sheer intensity of troop firepower forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee.

Amid the chaos, the terrified victims scattered into the surrounding bushes, disoriented and exhausted from days in captivity. At about 8:45 a.m., they were safely recovered by troops who had continued searching the area to ensure no one was left behind.

Among those rescued are Fadi Musa, Jummai Manga, Hamsatu Musa, Jummai Ali, Inna Amadu, Falmata Musa, Hadiza Hamman, and five children. Many were visibly tired after trekking long distances when their abductors fled under fire. The troops immediately evacuated them to the brigade field ambulance, where they received urgent medical care for blisters, injuries, and the effects of beatings endured in captivity. After treatment and meals, they were formally handed over to the representative of the Chairman, Gwoza Local Government Area, for reunification with their families.

The military high command has praised the bravery, speed, and professionalism of the troops, acknowledging the vital contributions of security stakeholders and local informants whose timely intelligence made the rescue possible. Troops remain in active pursuit of ISWAP remnants across southern Borno to prevent further atrocities and ensure the safety of all civilians.

BREAKING: Kogi Govt Deploys Helicopter, Anti-Kidnapping Squad After Church Attack

The Kogi State Government has launched both aerial and ground security operations following a violent attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA.

Video footage shared by Egbe Emekun Parrot shows a state-deployed helicopter and anti-kidnapping unit combing the area in pursuit of the armed attackers.

This attack adds to a worrying trend of violence against places of worship in Kogi and neighboring states. Just weeks ago, on November 18, bandits attacked Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State, killing five people and abducting 38 worshippers, including women, children, and the elderly.

It is not an overstatement to say that President Tinubu was created to lead our nation at a time like this. I not only commend the President, but also join in appealing to Parliament to make haste and hearken to, as well as hearten to, the President's call.

If they do this, this tenth National Assembly will be the greatest Legislature in the history of democratic governance in Nigeria.

The Federal High Court has firmly denied a viral report alleging that Justice James Omotosho survived an assassination attempt days after sentencing IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment.

The rumour, circulated by a Facebook blogger, claimed the judge was attacked and rushed to the hospital. However, in an official statement on Sunday, Chief Registrar Sulaiman Hassan described the story as completely false, unfounded, and designed to mislead Nigerians.

The statement, titled “Rebuttal to False Publication by ‘Celebrity Blogger’ on the Alleged Assassination Attempt on Justice James Omotosho”, urged the public to disregard the report and refrain from spreading misinformation.

“We firmly and unequivocally declare that the said report is completely false,” the court stated.
“The public is advised to treat this publication as fake news.”

Hassan expressed concern over the motive behind the fabrication, noting that such claims could spark panic and undermine confidence in the judiciary. He called on security agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the malicious publication under cybercrime and defamation laws.

BACKGROUND ON THE CASE
Justice Omotosho had on Thursday sentenced Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment on terrorism charges. While several counts carried the death penalty, the judge opted for leniency, saying:

“As a Christian, I chose to be merciful.”

Kanu received life sentences on multiple counts, with additional terms running concurrently. The court also ordered his transfer to protective custody outside Kuje Prison and restricted his access to digital devices.

The judge further ruled that Kanu’s seized radio transmitter be forfeited to the Federal Government, with DSS allowed to pursue forfeiture of additional exhibits.

Describing the IPOB leader as “unruly” and “not remorseful,” Justice Omotosho maintained that the defendant still demonstrated “a tendency of violence.”
