This move comes just as Harris prepares to embark on a 15-city book tour promoting her memoir, 107 Days, starting in September. The tour’s timing highlights concerns over her security without a Secret Service detail.

Some critics, including California officials like Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, condemn Trump’s action as politically motivated and potentially dangerous. They warn it puts Harris at increased risk.

In response, authors and advisors emphasized Harris’s appreciation for the Secret Service's past support, though alternatives for her safety have yet to be disclosed.
