No Messiah Is Coming in 2027– Dele Farotimi Tells Nigerians
Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has cautioned Nigerians against placing their hopes on a “messiah” to rescue the country in the 2027 general elections.
Farotimi made the remark while responding to a post on X by a user, @herdeys1, who asked if former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the awaited “messiah.”
In his reply, Farotimi stated:
“expect no messiah to save Nigeria and the victims of Nigeria, and anyone expecting a messiah should have their brains examined. Your messiah resides in your mirror; nobody’s coming to save us—it is up to us to save ourselves.”
His comments come amid growing political discussions following Peter Obi’s recent declaration that he would run again in 2027.
Obi, who came third in the 2023 presidential election, is reportedly in talks with both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over a possible alignment ahead of the next polls.
Farotimi’s statement adds to the ongoing debate about Nigeria’s political future and the role of citizens in shaping the nation’s destiny.
