Ghanaian Music Star Shatta Wale Detained Over Lamborghini purchase linked to fraud.
Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale has been taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as part of an ongoing tax-related investigation, his management has confirmed.
The detention happened after authorities seized his yellow Lamborghini, which US investigators claim is linked to a fraud syndicate led by Ghanaian national Nana Kwabena Amuah. Amuah is currently serving a seven-year sentence in the United States for defrauding multiple organisations.
According to Shatta’s team, the artist turned himself in voluntarily on Wednesday. They emphasised that the matter concerns “tax obligations” and refrained from addressing the US allegations.
The $150,000 luxury car is expected to be shipped back to the US to assist in compensating Amuah’s victims even though Shatta Wale has rejected any link to Amuah, maintaining that he is simply a “third-party owner” and unaware of how the vehicle was imported into Ghana.
A statement from his management urged fans to remain calm, assuring the public that his lawyers are actively working with the authorities to resolve the issue.
“We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and working tirelessly on this matter,” the statement read.
