BREAKING: Police Direct Retirees (2007–2022) To Report For Pension Documentation In Port Harcourt

The Nigeria Police Force has ordered all personnel who retired between July 1, 2007, and December 2022 to urgently report for pension documentation in Port Harcourt.

According to a wireless message dated August 18, 2025, and signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of DFA, Rivers State Command, the exercise will run from Tuesday, August 19 to Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Pension Office, Borikiri, Port Harcourt.

The signal (Ref: CH: 8475/RVS/VOL.4/125) directed Area Commanders, DPOs, and tactical commanders to inform all affected retirees in their jurisdictions immediately.

The police notice, marked Confidential, emphasized: “Treat as very important, please.”

This comes amid ongoing protests by retired officers over unpaid benefits under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Many say they have received only 25% of deductions from 35 years of service. In July, retirees staged demonstrations nationwide, demanding to be removed from the CPS entirely, despite the government’s recent rollout of free healthcare incentives for low-income retirees.
