News Brief: Boko Haram, Banditry Decline Under Tinubu – NSA Ribadu.
National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu says Boko Haram attacks, banditry, and communal violence have significantly reduced in the last two years under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at a northern leaders’ meeting in Kaduna, Ribadu credited the decline to a unified security strategy directed by the president. He revealed that over 11,000 hostages have been rescued, and major bandit leaders neutralised in states like Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina.
Ribadu contrasted this with the previous administration, during which over 5,000 people were killed in Benue and more than 3,300 kidnapped in Kaduna.
The event, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, reviewed the government’s performance in addressing insecurity and other challenges in the North.
