The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has fixed August 30, 2025, as the new date for the state’s local government elections.
The polls were initially set for August 9 but were postponed due to a state of emergency that disrupted earlier plans, according to RSIEC Chairman Michael Odey.

Campaigns: Begin August 12
