Casablanca, Morocco — Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set for a decisive WAFCON 2024 showdown tonight as they take on Botswana in their second Group B match, with eyes firmly on securing an early quarter-final ticket.

The nine-time champions began their campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Tunisia, thanks to stellar goals from Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, and Chinwendu Ihezuo. With no injury concerns and strong momentum, Coach Justin Madugu’s side is locked in on “Mission X” — their quest for a 10th continental title.

“We remain focused and believe that victory over Botswana is a huge possibility,” Madugu said during a pre-match briefing. “We're taking it one match at a time.”

Botswana, who edged Algeria 1-0 in their opening match, are also riding high and believe they can upset the odds. Coach Alex Malete insists his team won’t be intimidated by Nigeria’s pedigree.

“The belief is stronger than the pressure,” Malete said confidently.

This is only the second WAFCON meeting between both sides. Nigeria defeated Botswana 2-0 in their debut outing back in 2022.
