Lagos Police Summon Pastor Chris Okafor Over Multiple Rape, Sexual Offences Allegations, Assure Victim Protection as SCID Investigation Begins

The Lagos State Police Command has summoned Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, over allegations of multiple rape, sexual offences, and other serious crimes capable of disrupting public peace. According to police authorities, Okafor was formally served an invitation through his legal representative and is expected to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the unit.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a comprehensive and unbiased investigation following several complaints against the cleric. The command assured that no individual would be shielded due to religious status or influence and emphasized that the investigation would be conducted professionally, transparently, and in line with the law.

The police also confirmed that adequate security has been provided for alleged victims, urging them and members of the public with relevant information to come forward. Authorities assured that all victims’ identities would remain strictly confidential and protected throughout the investigation.

The development comes amid recent controversy involving Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who accused Okafor of breaching a marriage promise and demanded N1 billion in damages. Although the pastor publicly apologized to Ogala and others he claimed to have offended—while denying the allegations—the police maintain that all claims against him will be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice and public safety.
