The fake condoms differ from genuine products in packaging, labelling, and physical characteristics, posing serious health risks such as ineffective protection against pregnancy and STIs. NAFDAC has directed zonal directors and state coordinators to remove falsified products and urged consumers and healthcare professionals to verify product authenticity and report suspected counterfeits.
