Tinubu’s NSA Ribadu’s Office Admits Supplying Arms To Vigilantes In Kwara, Defends Hybrid Counter-Terrorism Strategy Under ONSA And NCTC

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has confirmed that arms were supplied to vigilante groups in Kwara State as part of a legally backed hybrid security strategy to combat terrorism, banditry and other crimes in difficult terrains. The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) said the action aligns with the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, 2022, stressing that trained vigilantes and hunters operate alongside regular forces under strict oversight. ONSA dismissed claims that weapons were given to socio-cultural groups, urging the media to avoid misinformation and protect sensitive security operations.
