A Lagos-based man, Justice John, has accused Gynescope Specialist Hospital, Lekki, of gross medical negligence following the death of his wife, Akudo Lovelyn John, during childbirth. He alleged that mismanagement of postpartum hemorrhage, delayed referral, lack of oxygen, poor emergency response and the use of a faulty stretcher that caused his wife to fall contributed to her death. John said an autopsy by LUTH revealed hemorrhagic shock as the cause of death, contradicting the hospital’s claim of cardiac arrest. He has petitioned the Lagos State Government and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, demanding a full investigation and accountability.
