Ondo Communities Accuse Rex Forestry of Failing CSR Duties, Ignoring Government Directives

Communities in Okitipupa and Odigbo Local Government Areas of Ondo State have accused Rex Forestry Limited of neglecting its Corporate Social Responsibility obligations and defying government directives. The firm, operating under the Ondo State Afforestation Project, allegedly failed to allocate 1% of its budget to CSR, hire local indigenes, and support education, sanitation, and skills training programs. Despite prior meetings and a seven-point government agenda to address these issues, the company reportedly continued to employ outsiders and disregarded local demands. Community leaders have formally petitioned the Ondo State Government for urgent intervention to enforce compliance and prevent unrest.
