Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu’s counsel Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, and other protesters have returned to the Kuje Magistrate Court in Abuja as proceedings resume over their arrest during the October 2025 #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest. The defendants were previously remanded and charged with unlawful assembly and disturbing public peace after a peaceful demonstration in Abuja. Speaking at the court, Ejimakor described the trial as a test of Nigerians’ right to protest and freedom to disagree with government actions.
