Kano Health Centre Receives ‘Shoddy Renovation’ Despite ₦32.9bn BHCPF Release, Accountability Group Raises Alarm

A civic accountability group, MonITNG, has accused contractors and supervising agencies in Kano State of approving substandard renovation work at the Ganakakum Health Clinic in Warawa LGA, despite the federal government’s recent release of ₦32.9 billion through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF). The group said its Tracka team discovered that only repainting and window repairs were done while the clinic’s leaking roof—posing risks to patients and health workers—was ignored. MonITNG is demanding urgent intervention from the Minister of Health and NPHCDA, insisting that public funds must not be wasted and calling for transparency in the utilisation of the new BHCPF allocation.
