FG probes alleged neglect of accident victims at FMC Jabi guardin-logo

The Federal Government has launched an investigation into a viral video that appears to show road accident victims being neglected at the Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja.

The viral video recorded by a Samaritan claimed he had transported the injured victims to the hospital after coming across the scene of a road accident.

In the footage, he alleged that medical personnel at FMC Jabi initially refused to attend to the victims, with one reportedly claiming a lack of gloves as the reason for the delay.

However, the video later shows some hospital staff assisting one of the more severely injured victims into the emergency unit, while others were seen limping into the facility without assistance.

Reacting to this, the hospital’s spokesperson, Obadiah Gana, said the hospital has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to Gana, preliminary findings indicate that the emergency department was adequately stocked at the time, with no shortage of gloves, medical supplies, trolleys, or wheelchairs.

He added that internal reviews are ongoing, including interviews with on-duty staff and other relevant stakeholders.
