Paul Adefarasin Responds to Viral Video Allegations of Brandishing a Firearm

Paul Adefarasin Denies Allegations of Brandishing Firearm in Viral Video

Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church in Lagos, has responded to a viral video circulating on social media, firmly denying claims that he was seen holding a firearm.

The widely shared video shows Adefarasin holding a metallic object while engaging with someone recording him. Online speculation quickly followed, with some suggesting that the object was a gun.

Addressing the controversy in a message posted to his social media accounts on Saturday, Adefarasin clarified that the object in question was not a firearm and that he did not point it at anyone.

“You might be aware of a video circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he said. “I want to assure you — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

He acknowledged the public concern the video may have caused and announced that he would briefly address the matter during the church’s 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday.

“We understand the concern this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 a.m. service tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” he added.

Adefarasin urged the public not to be misled by misinformation or sensationalism and called for calm amid the ongoing online reactions.
