Tragedy in Abraka: Beloved Youth Marcus Samuel Dafe Killed After Kidnapping Incident
As of June 5, 2025, Marcus Samuel Dafe, a young media personality from Abraka, Delta State, has tragically been confirmed dead following a kidnapping incident. Reports indicate that Marcus was abducted on June 4, 2025, while returning from a meeting concerning land sales. His body was discovered shortly after, leading to widespread grief and outrage within the community. This incident occurred just two days after Marcus had participated in a peaceful protest against the rising cases of kidnapping in the area .
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the killing of four suspected kidnappers in Abraka on the same day. According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, a joint operation involving the police, local vigilantes, and anti-cult volunteers led to the neutralization of the suspects and the recovery of firearms. A recently rescued victim identified one of the deceased suspects as a leader of the gang that had previously abducted him.
In response to the escalating insecurity, Delta State lawmakers Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo and Hon. Chukwudi Dafe have collaborated with the police to address kidnapping in Ethiope East and Ukwuani Local Government Areas. Their efforts include engaging with traditional rulers and community leaders to strategize on combating the menace.
The community remains in mourning, with many expressing their sorrow and demanding justice for Marcus Samuel Dafe.
