President Tinubu Recalls NTA DG, Director of News, Reverses Recent Appointments
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, effectively reversing recent management changes at the state-owned broadcaster.
The directive was announced on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in a statement issued by Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement:
-
Dembos, first appointed DG by Tinubu in October 2023, will now return to complete his three-year tenure.
-
Adewuyi, appointed in 2024, has also been recalled to complete his tenure, which runs until 2027.
The latest order nullifies earlier appointments announced on August 22, which included:
-
Rotimi Pedro (DG, NTA)
-
Stella Din Jacob (Executive Director, News)
-
Karimah Bello (Executive Director, Marketing)
-
Sophia Essahmed (MD, NTA Enterprises)
The Presidency did not provide a reason for the reversal, leaving the development open to speculation.
