2027: Don’t Be Misled by Coalition Politics – Tinubu Presidency Urges Nigerians to Verify Facts

The presidency has warned Nigerians not to be swayed by political coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging citizens to verify facts and make informed choices. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Strategy, the so-called coalition groups are driven by hatred and have been “consigned to political wilderness.”

In a statement posted on his X handle Saturday, Onanuga argued that the Tinubu-led administration, under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has surpassed the records of past governments, including the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 1999 to 2015.

Highlighting achievements in the energy sector, he cited a 176.7% increase in revenue by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), rising from ₦4.3 trillion in 2023 to ₦12.2 trillion in 2024. He also noted strong performance from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

“These accomplishments show that President Tinubu’s administration is delivering tangible progress. Yet, it is baffling that groups united by hate are calling for change,” Onanuga said.

He called on Nigerians to look beyond political rhetoric:
“Don’t be fooled. Verify the facts. Decide based on evidence, not propaganda.”

Despite the claims of success, observers note that the administration still faces major challenges in addressing economic hardship and widespread discontent. The debate is expected to intensify as the 2027 elections draw closer.
