Intelligence Failure? 13 Killed in DSS-Led Anti-Terror Mission Amid Poor Coordination and Lack of Support

A recent high-risk counter-terror operation has ended in tragedy, as 13 operatives were confirmed dead, contrary to earlier inflated reports.

According to insights gathered by Zagazola Makama, security experts are raising red flags over the lack of real-time intelligence sharing, poor inter-agency collaboration, and absence of critical air support. The operation, spearheaded by the Department of State Services (DSS), reportedly proceeded with minimal involvement from the Nigerian Army or Air Force, despite the extreme danger involved.

While the mission was aimed at neutralizing a notorious terror network in the region, insiders say it was doomed by poor planning, weak communication infrastructure, and an underestimation of the enemy’s firepower.

Experts are now calling for urgent reforms in the way Nigeria handles joint security operations, stressing the need for integrated strategies, secure comms, and adequate logistical support for field agents confronting well-armed insurgents in difficult terrains.
