In 2002, Aig-Imoukhuede and Herbert Wigwe acquired Access Bank, which at the time was a relatively small institution. Through strategic reforms, strong corporate governance, and aggressive expansion, they transformed it into a major financial powerhouse.

Under his leadership, Access Bank strengthened its capital base, improved risk management systems, and expanded its customer base across Nigeria. The bank later became one of the most recognized financial brands in Africa.

After stepping down as CEO in 2013, he continued to influence the financial sector through board leadership and advisory roles.
