Adewale’s POV

I saw her trembling, and my heart clenched.

I reached out, not touching her, but close enough for her to feel me there.

“She will no longer serve this palace as a maid,” I announced. “She will be taught. Guided. Honored.”

I turned to my parents.

The King nodded once firm and final.

The Queen smiled, pride shining in her eyes.

The approval of the throne was sealed.

Adebimpe’s POV

That very day, everything changed.

The simple clothes I wore were taken away not in shame, but in transition.

Royal women dressed me in flowing fabrics. My hair was styled differently. I no longer walked with my eyes on the floor.

I was given rooms I never imagined entering.

And for the first time, I did not lift a broom.

I lifted my chin.

Yet in the mirror, I whispered to myself, Do not forget who you were.

Adewale’s POV

When I saw her later that evening, dressed in royal attire, my breath caught.

Not because of the clothes

But because of the woman wearing them.

The Queen leaned toward me and smiled. “You chose well.”

The King added quietly, “She carries royalty in her spirit.”

I looked at Adebimpe, standing with grace, strength growing into her skin.

And in that moment, I knew

The crown had not lowered her.

Love had raised her.
