ADEBIMPE (Episode 8)
Prince Adewale (POV)
The sight froze me.
My seal.
On the floor.
And Adebimpe standing over it.
The room smelled wrong fear, not guilt. But the palace had taught me that innocence often wore the same face as betrayal.
“Explain,” I said, my voice cold.
She fell to her knees immediately. “My prince, I swear I did not steal it. I was told it was missing. I came to check.”
“Told by who?”
She hesitated.
Too long.
That hesitation cut deeper than any answer.
“Guards,” I said, “take her to the inner courtyard.”
Her eyes widened. “My prince, please—”
I turned away.
I did not trust myself to look at her.

When I heard the commotion, my heart danced.
It worked.
I stood among the other maids, feigning shock, shaking my head slowly.
“So sad,” I whispered. “I warned her the palace is not kind.”
Inside, I smiled.
In this palace, one mistake was enough.
Adebimpe (POV)
The inner courtyard was cold.
I knelt on hard stone, my hands shaking, my chest burning with silent tears. I thought of my mother again. Of her voice telling me to be strong.
This is how it ends, I thought.
Accused. Alone.
Then I heard footsteps.
Iya Morounkeji.
She did not speak at first. She only looked at me long, deep, searching.
“You did not take it,” she said finally. It was not a question.
“No, Iya,” I whispered. “I swear.”
She nodded once. “Good. Because the truth has a way of walking out of shadows.”
She turned to leave, her back straight.
“Someone set you up,” she added quietly. “And when I find out who…”
She did not finish the sentence.
She didn’t need to.
That night, the palace buzzed with rumors.
Some said I would be sent away.
Some said worse.
Some said the prince himself would decide my fate.
As I lay awake, staring into darkness, one truth settled heavily in my chest:
I was no longer just a jealous target.
I was now a threat.
And whoever tried to destroy me…
had only just begun.
