My Experience in North Nigeria!! Episode 4 End

EPISODE 4: VACATION LAUGHTER, A SILENT PAIN, AND THE ROAD HOME

After settling in Funtua, life slowly became sweet again. The stress of the journey faded, and we began to truly enjoy our vacation. The air felt different calmer. Every morning came with greetings from neighbors, children playing freely, and laughter echoing around the compound. My granny was happy, moving from house to house, sharing the gifts she suffered so much to bring. At night, stories were told, food was shared, and for a while, the road troubles felt far away.

One evening, while playing outside, I picked up a torchlight and started flashing it around, turning darkness into a small game. I was enjoying myself when a Hausa child noticed me and wanted to join. For reasons I can’t fully explain maybe fear, maybe shyness I refused.

That small refusal became a big problem.

The child ran off and came back with his elder brother. Before I could understand what was happening, he beat me badly. Slaps, pushes, pain everything happened too fast. I was shocked, hurt, and confused.

I didn’t go home to complain.

I knew the questions that would follow: Why did you go there? Why were you playing with them? So I kept the pain to myself. I cried quietly, healed slowly, and carried it inside me. It was one of those childhood moments that teach you silence and caution earlier than they should.

Still, despite that incident, our stay in Funtua remained beautiful. There were good days, kind people, shared meals, and moments of joy. One bad experience did not erase the many good ones.

When it was time to return home, something surprising happened.

The journey back was easy.

No broken vehicle. No stranded night. No stolen money. The road that troubled us so much before finally gave us peace. We arrived home tired but safe.

That journey taught me many things about travel, trust, kindness, pain, and strength. Traveling with my granny, suffering together, laughing together, and returning safely turned that trip into a story I will never forget.

THE END.
