Silent Cradles Episode 1

EPISODE 1: THE ORPHANAGE

On the Lagos Mainland stood a massive orphanage home known by almost everyone. It was popular, well-painted, and always busy with visitors. Churches donated food. NGOs donated clothes. Politicians came for photo opportunities. To the public, it was a place of mercy—a home for abandoned children.

But behind that bright smile lived a darkness no one dared to imagine.

The orphanage was a baby factory.

For years, the people running it had been secretly kidnapping and trapping young women, forcing them to give birth so their babies could be sold. They operated freely because they had strong connections with corrupt local police officers. Any complaint that came close to the truth was quickly buried.

Their trap was simple and effective.

They advertised for young ladies needed to care for orphanage children. The pay sounded decent. No experience required. Many desperate girls applied.

One of them was Amanda.

Amanda had just arrived in Lagos, struggling to survive. When she saw the opportunity, she felt hopeful for the first time in months. She applied and was invited almost immediately.

On the phone, the woman told her calmly,

“When you arrive, ask for Mrs. Chioma, the head of the orphanage.”

The day Amanda arrived, everything looked normal. Children were playing. Workers smiled. The compound looked safe.

She asked for Mrs. Chioma.

A woman pointed her down a long, quiet hallway.

That hallway was the beginning of hell.
