The Three Desperate Friends

In a crowded city where traffic never slept, three childhood friends Ayo, Bola, and Chike shared a cramped apartment. They struggled together, chasing dreams in a city that promised everything but gave little. They trusted one another, believing their bond was stronger than money or success.

One evening, while working late at a closed electronics store, they discovered a forgotten safe hidden behind a broken wall. Inside was a stack of cash, enough to change their lives overnight. They laughed, celebrated, and agreed to split it equally after thinking things through.

But as the night deepened, their thoughts grew darker.

Ayo imagined finally escaping poverty.

Bola felt he deserved more for finding the safe.

Chike said nothing, quietly calculating his next move.

They decided to stay the night. While Ayo slept, Chike slipped something into his drink. By morning, Ayo was dead. Panic turned to greed. Bola confronted Chike, and a violent struggle followed. In their desperation, both were fatally wounded.

When neighbors heard screams and called the police, officers found three bodies in the apartment—and the money untouched on the floor.

The story spread quickly across the city. People said the money was cursed, but the elders knew the truth. It was not the cash that killed them—it was greed.

Moral: In the city or the village, greed destroys loyalty, and no amount of money is worth a human life.
