Faith Alone Won’t Fill Your Pockets

In a quiet village, there lived a man named Taye, known by all for his unwavering faith in God. Every morning, he prayed with fervor, asking for blessings, wealth, and prosperity. He believed that if he trusted God fully, riches would simply fall into his lap.

Taye watched as others in the village worked hard. Farmers tilled their fields from dawn till dusk. Traders opened their shops early and studied the market. Some even took bold risks, investing in ventures that could either fail or bring great rewards.

But Taye… he waited. He waited for God to open doors, to send money his way without him lifting a finger. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, and still, his pockets remained empty.

One day, a wise old merchant named Ebo came to the village. Seeing Taye idle under a tree, Ebo asked, “Why do you sit here all day, praying for wealth that does not come?”

Taye replied, “I trust God. If He wills it, money will come to me.”

Ebo shook his head. “Taye, God helps those who help themselves. Prayers are like seeds — they need your sweat, your hands, and your mind to grow. You cannot wait for rain while refusing to plant.”

Something in Taye stirred that day. He began small: he opened a stall to sell goods, learning the value of effort. He invested his little savings wisely. He combined his faith with action. Slowly, the fruits of labor started to appear. His prayers didn’t change, but now his hands and heart were in motion.

Taye realized the truth: faith was not enough without effort. God could bless him, but He would not hand him wealth while he refused to work, learn, and take risks.

Years later, Taye became prosperous, respected, and wise. He still prayed, but now he also planted, worked, and invested. And in doing so, he learned the most important lesson: God opens doors, but you must walk through them.
