Mayorkun Reveals Davido Helped Seal His Sony Music Africa Deal — No Bad Blood, Just Brotherhood!
Nigerian music star Mayorkun has finally addressed rumors about his relationship with Davido, confirming that his former label boss played a crucial role in helping him land a record deal with Sony Music Africa.
In an exclusive interview with 3Music TV, Mayorkun—who rose to fame under Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) from 2016 to 2021—set the record straight:
“Aside from having my label, right now I am also with Sony Africa. Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” he said.
His revelation puts to rest years of speculation about a potential fallout following his departure from DMW. Instead, it paints a picture of loyalty, mentorship, and lasting respect between two of Afrobeats’ biggest names.
Mayorkun’s acknowledgment shows that while contracts may end, real connections last—and Davido remains a powerful force in shaping the next generation of African music stars.
