EXCLUSIVE: EFCC Defies Court Order, Invades Abuja Property After Judges Award N20m Damages to Jona Brothers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has again invaded a disputed Mabushi property in Abuja despite a restraining order issued by the FCT High Court, which also awarded N20 million in damages to Jona Brothers Construction Ltd. Videos obtained by SaharaReporters show EFCC operatives entering the land with mattresses, allegedly to occupy the premises.

Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi had dismissed the EFCC’s criminal charges on November 11, 2025, describing the agency’s actions as an abuse of power and restraining it from further interference. This judgment reinforced earlier rulings from four different judges affirming Jona Brothers’ ownership and criticizing EFCC’s conduct since 2023.

The dispute escalates from an ex parte forfeiture order obtained by the EFCC in 2024, widely viewed as an attempt to hand the property to businessman Chief Michael Adeojo. Despite multiple court decisions and an abandoned EFCC appeal, operatives again stormed the land with armed police, triggering new outrage.

Separately, the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) has approved a hearing into a petition against EFCC prosecutor Elizabeth Alabi for alleged malicious falsehood, while Justice Bature has initiated contempt proceedings against the EFCC chairman for disobeying court orders.
