According to a report by Al Jazeera English, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Israel against launching a military strike on Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking in an interview on June 24, 2025, Trump expressed concerns that any direct confrontation would lead to catastrophic consequences for the region and beyond.

His remarks were reported by Al Jazeera English and widely circulated on social media.

“Israel would be making a terrible mistake attacking Iran,” Trump cautioned.

He added that the current volatile situation was already dangerously close to spiraling out of control and urged both sides to exercise restraint.

Trump’s comments come as diplomatic relations between Israel and Iran reach new lows following a series of confrontations and alleged proxy attacks.

  • Nigerian Pleads Guilty To $405,000 U.S. Romance Scam.

A 40-year-old Nigerian, Daniel Chima Inweregbu, has pleaded guilty in the United States to charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, as well as money laundering, in connection with a romance scam that defrauded American women of more than $405,000.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

According to court documents, Inweregbu and his co-conspirators ran the scheme between July 2017 and December 2018, using a fake online persona named “Larry Pham” to lure victims on dating sites and social media targeting US citizens.

The statement explained that the group “devised and operated a romance scam whereby they sought to obtain money and property from multiple American women, including four victims, by means of false and fraudulent representations and promises.”

Once they gained the trust of their targets, the conspirators convinced them to transfer funds into domestic bank accounts they controlled.

Authorities said the proceeds were later laundered through intermediaries to disguise their origin and ownership.

“Inweregbu’s scheme resulted in actual and intended losses of over $405,000 to the victims.

  • Mockery of democracy’ – Peter Obi blasts Rivers LG poll.

Former Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi has described the just concluded Local Governments’ election in Rivers State as a “mockery of democracy.”

In a post via his official X handle late on Sunday, Obi said the conduct of the was rascality taken too far, which represents a double tragedy for the country’s democracy.

According to him, when a Sole Administrator, illegally appointed conducts an election that should empower the people, it is not democracy but outright desecration of its very foundation.

The former Anambra state governor added that such actions are unconstitutional, legally untenable, and morally indefensible.

He added that the actions send a dangerous message that the rule of law can be discarded at the whim of those in power.

“But the truth remains unshaken: illegality can never give birth to legitimacy. Any structure erected on a foundation of lawlessness is a danger to both the state and the people.

“Nigeria cannot afford to continue on this perilous path. We cannot pretend to practise democracy while silencing the will of the people – especially at the grassroots, where democracy matters most,” he wrote.

  • Pandemonium As Fuel Tanker Explosion Rocks Oshodi, Lagos.

The tanker, which reportedly overturned while in motion, immediately exploded, with the raging fire consuming at least four other trucks parked nearby.
    Fuel Tanker Explosion
A petrol tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) burst into flames on Sunday at Iyana-Isolo, heading toward Oshodi, Lagos, causing panic and raising fears of the fire spreading across the busy corridor.

The tanker, which reportedly overturned while in motion, immediately exploded, with the raging fire consuming at least four other trucks parked nearby.

Eyewitnesses said the inferno could have caused a major disaster had it not been quickly contained.

Swift intervention by operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, in collaboration with other emergency agencies, averted what could have become a large-scale tragedy.

The agency mobilised first responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, police officers from Aswani, Ilasa and Mushin divisions, as well as the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, to the scene.

According to LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the fire was successfully brought under control after personnel cordoned off the affected road and diverted traffic away from the danger zone. He confirmed that reinforcements from adjoining zones were also deployed to boost the operation.

Bakare-Oki expressed relief that no lives were lost, attributing the outcome to the prompt coordination of agencies on the ground. He, however, cautioned drivers of articulated vehicles, tankers and heavy-duty trucks against reckless speeding, which preliminary findings linked to the cause of the accident.

He also advised residents to utilise LASTMA’s toll-free hotline (080000527862) to report traffic emergencies, assuring the public that the agency remains equipped to respond swiftly to incidents.

  • Stop Using Obi To Score Cheap Point’ Isaac Fayose Fires Adeyanju.

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has confronted activist Deji Adeyanju over his persistent attacks on Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urging him to “come out clean” about his alleged support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeyanju has repeatedly described Obi as a “fraud,” insisting that he has valid evidence to prove the former Anambra governor is not who he claims to be.

He also recently accused Obi of being a “manipulator and religious bigot,” comments that have sparked outrage among Obi’s supporters, many of whom allege the APC government is sponsoring his outbursts.

In response, Obi has dragged Adeyanju to court, demanding proof of the allegations.

Reacting in a video message laced with Pidgin English, Isaac Fayose said Adeyanju should boldly declare his political stance rather than constantly using Obi’s name for relevance.

He alleged that Adeyanju was only following the path of former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, who, according to him, gained prominence with the Tinubu administration by attacking Obi.

Speaking in a post on his social media space, he said, “My brother Deji Adeyanju want go APC you dey take style dey support Tinubu government but you no fit come out openly say, ‘Oh! I don go APC or I’m supporting Tinubu.

“You dey use legbegbe like Reno Omokri. Reno Omokri started by fighting Obi and later he just crossed in. Deji dey use the same style.

  • Women, children suffer as communities battle diseases after deadly flood.

Each rainy season, floodwaters relentlessly engulf homes and livelihoods across Nigeria, turning dreams into despair. From Lagos, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Rivers, Yobe, and beyond, families find themselves battling rising waters that swallow everything in their path, forcing desperate escapes, destroying property, and leaving lasting scars on communities already struggling to survive. IDOWU ABDULLAHI reports

When the rain began on the evening of August 3, 2025, Mrs. Abdulrazaq Suliat did not suspect that her family would spend the night fighting for survival.

The downpour, which lasted several hours, soon turned into a flood that swallowed her Ikorodu home in Lagos State and left her children in danger.

What began as drizzle that formed shallow puddles soon swelled into raging streams, creeping into homes and shops in the area.

For more than seven relentless hours, the rain hammered down heavily, swallowing every path and corner leading to Suliat’s community and others in the Ijede area of Ikorodu.

While battling for her children’s lives in the flood with a phone’s torchlight as the only saving grace, she watched helplessly as their belongings floated past her, and some were buried under the water.

By past 12 in midnight, her home was no longer a place of safety but a cottage of fear. Within hours, the flood had risen above their beds. Her nine-year-old son was the first to sense danger.

“My little child, about 9 years old, was the first to jump up in fear, because the water had splashed all over his face and eyes while he was asleep. He ran to me shouting ‘Mummy!’ When I looked around, the water had reached the bed in the room. In the parlour, it had covered all the electronics like the radio, chairs, things on the floor, and shelves,” she told our correspondent while showing him around the ruins on August 19, 2025.
Women, children suffer as communities battle diseases after deadly flood. Each rainy season, floodwaters relentlessly engulf homes and livelihoods across Nigeria, turning dreams into despair. From Lagos, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Rivers, Yobe, and beyond, families find themselves battling rising waters that swallow everything in their path, forcing desperate escapes, destroying property, and leaving lasting scars on communities already struggling to survive. IDOWU ABDULLAHI reports When the rain began on the evening of August 3, 2025, Mrs.

  • Woman loses twin babies after she was seen trekking while in labour over inability to pay 28K delivery fee.

A pregnant woman's plight has angered Nigerians after she lost her twin babies following a gruelling labour which saw her trekking through the streets of Abuja to look for money and also get a referral letter.

A Good Samaritan saw the heavily pregnant woman trekking in Abuja and approached her, asking why she looked so tired. The kind Nigerian offered to get the pregnant woman a cab.

However, the pregnant woman told her to give her the money instead so she can find more money and add to it to be able to pay for delivery of her twin baby girls.

The pregnant woman explained that the hospital where she was supposed to give birth asked her to bring N28,000 and a referral letter from the health centre where she had registered for antenatal. The health centre had referred her to a hospital that could better handle her situation.

The Good Samaritan swung into action and took the pregnant woman to the health centre where it was discovered that she was in active labour.

The pregnant woman began crying at this point, lamenting that she has not bought a single baby item. When asked about her husband and why he was not present, she claimed he was ill.

The Good Samaritan helped her to get some baby items and the pregnant woman went into the labour ward.

Sadly, in an update, she announced that the twins died.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Worth ₦1b And Taxi Involved In Crash In Abuja – But Who Do You Think Is At Fault? - autojosh
Details about the expensive crash wasn’t revealed except for the ‘drive carefully’ caption that accompanied the video – so it is also very difficult to say who is at fault from the footage taking at the scene of the crash.

From the footage, it is also difficult to guess the extent of the damage done to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan as well as the repair bills to bring it back on the road – though it looks more of cosmetics (appearance) than structural damage.

The Cullinan involved in the crash isn’t the Cullinan Series II worth over ₦1.5 billion – the latest incarnation of the marque’s first-ever SUV that made its public debut on May 7th 2024.

Features that separates the new Cullinan Series II from this first-gen Cullinan SUV involved in the crash includes the lines and crisp edges while the centrepiece is the illuminated Pantheon Grille at the front.

EFCC wins major corruption case as blue-chip investments linked to retired military chief are seized for the Federal Government.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of nearly ₦246 million worth of shares in some of Nigeria’s biggest companies linked to retired Major General Umar Mohammed, a former Managing Director of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL), and businessman Kayode Filani.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Dehinde Dipeolu, followed an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which argued that the shares were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities during Mohammed’s tenure at NAPL.

The confiscated assets span several blue-chip firms, including Zenith Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc, Transcorp Hotels Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc, NAHCO, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, University Press Plc, Oando Plc, and Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.
