  • Nigerian Professionals, Families Left Stranded as U.S. Revokes Visas.

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has reportedly begun quietly revoking valid visas previously issued to Nigerian citizens, leaving professionals, entrepreneurs, frequent travellers, and families stranded with cancelled plans and mounting financial losses.

Former Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Olufemi Soneye, raised the alarm in an article on Sunday titled “The Quiet Revocation: Why is the U.S. Silently Cancelling Nigerians’ Visas?” According to him, several Nigerians have recently received official letters from the embassy instructing them to submit their passports at its Lagos or Abuja offices, only for their visas to be cancelled without explanation.

The notices, citing Title 22, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 41.122, vaguely stated that “new information became available after the visa was issued,” but offered no details, evidence, or right of appeal.

Those affected reportedly include a prominent journalist, the head of a federal government agency billed to deliver an international address, and an Abuja-based entrepreneur with a clean travel record.

Others are professionals and frequent travellers who depend on U.S. visas for education, family visits, medical treatment, and business engagements. The sudden cancellations forced many to abandon trips, refund tickets, and explain missed meetings to partners.

In some cases, travellers only discovered the cancellations at airports, with a few briefly detained before being turned back. Neither the U.S. Embassy nor Nigerian authorities have issued an official statement on the matter, leaving affected citizens in uncertainty.

Many insist they have never overstayed visas, broken immigration rules, or posed security risks, sparking fears of a silent but deliberate tightening of U.S. visa policy against Nigerians.

  • Former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused the federal government of paying bandits instead of confronting them with force.

“What I will not do is to pay bandits. They are paying bandits. They are empowering bandits. This is what this government has done. We have the evidence. They are paying bandits. They are empowering bandits.

It’s a national policy driven by the Office of the National Security Adviser, and Kaduna is part of it. Many states are objecting to that. But that is the policy now.” He declared: “My position has always been that the only repentant bandit is a dead one. Let’s kill them all. Let’s wipe them.

Let’s bomb them until they are reduced to nothing. And then the 5% that still want to be rehabilitated can be rehabilitated.”

Warning against negotiations, he said: “You do not negotiate from a position of weakness. You don’t empower your enemy. You don’t give him money to go on and buy more sophisticated weapons.

That’s why the security problem has not gone away. It will not go away. As long as this policy continues.” He also cited reports: “Just last week, SBM published a report that showed that the security situation in Kaduna and Zamfara has actually deteriorated…

What the government has been doing both at the national and state levels is buying the media from reporting it.” Defending himself, he added: “Even if it is my son or my father who is president or governor and he’s not doing the right thing, I lose the right to disagree or criticise?

Is that negative? Is that what Nigeria is?” El-Rufai stressed the government has failed Nigerians “on all fronts, including security, economy, and governance.”

  • BBN’s Cee-C opens up on the disadvantage of coming into fame through Big Brother

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Cee-C, has opened up about the challenges that come with sudden fame earned through the reality show.

Speaking recently, she explained that while the platform provides instant recognition, it often lacks the foundation needed for long-term relevance.

“One of the disadvantages of coming into fame through big brother is the fact that it’s quick. You’re nobody today and then tomorrow you go on the show and then you come out and then they know you. You’ve not been able to build relationships you need to survive in the industry,” She said.

Her remarks highlight the struggle many reality stars face in translating their brief spotlight into sustained careers within the entertainment industry.

  • Shop Owner Alleges Obstruction to Access CCTV by Landlord After Jewelry Worth Millions Stolen in Break-in

A Nigerian jeweler has cried out after claiming he was blocked from accessing CCTV footage crucial to investigating a burglary in his store by his landlord.

“Following the break in and theft incident that happened in my shop on Tuesday, the mall workers were apprehended by police and they came to the mall yesterday (Friday) to survey the area and look at the CCTV. Because of time they were not able to finish looking at the CCTV footage,” he explained, adding that jewelry worth millions of naira was carted away.

He said police initially granted him permission to get a personal copy of the footage. “I expressly asked that I’d like to have a copy of the CCTV footage for myself and the police agreed.”

But according to him, things quickly took a different turn. “I went down to the mall today, told the staff and he began copying the files into my hard disk. Half way through he stepped outside.

Another staff (a lady) came in and shut the whole process down. When I asked why, she said she received order and wouldn’t tell me who from. She finally mentioned that the landlord asked her not to let me take copies.”

The jeweler alleged that his hard disk was seized and his phone destroyed in the scuffle. “They sized my hard disk. Broke my phone. When I called the same police guy, he changed and said I could not take a long CCTV footage.”

He added that his own CCTV decoder had been carried away during investigations, leaving him solely dependent on the mall’s cameras. “Mind you, the CCTV decoder in my shop was carried along and I depend wholly on the mall’s CCTV,” he said.

The incident has stirred concerns about transparency in handling evidence tied to crimes involving losses worth millions.
