Operatives from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 14 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud across various locations in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in an intelligence-driven sting operation carried out in Ikot Akpanabia, Udoudoma, and Nwaniba areas of Uyo.
Among those arrested, three are undergraduates at the University of Uyo. During the operation, the EFCC seized several items, including 26 smartphones, one iPad, three laptops, a wristwatch, and a black Toyota Camry car.
The suspects are currently under investigation and will be arraigned in court once the investigation is completed.
