On May 7, 2025, a joint operation by the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) resulted in the arrest of four suspected terrorists in Tau Village, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation followed a distress call about the suspicious movement of armed individuals in the area.
Troops acted swiftly and strategically deployed to the location, leading to the apprehension of the four suspects, three of whom were found carrying firearms. During the operation, security forces also seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including two pump-action rifles, one locally fabricated gun, three cutlasses, forty-two cartridges, four mobile phones, and one national identity card.
Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been invited by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, who is currently under investigation for his possible involvement.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their quick response and professionalism during the operation. He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Taraba State and the surrounding regions.
“The Nigerian Army will continue to take decisive action against any threats to peace and security,” Brigadier General Uwa stated.
Captain Oni also urged the public to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that timely, credible information is crucial for the success of ongoing security operations.
