EFCC Arrests 98 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Enugu, Kwara

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended a total of 98 individuals suspected of internet fraud in coordinated operations across Enugu and Kwara States.

According to a statement issued by the commission, operatives from the EFCC Enugu Zonal Directorate arrested 51 suspects—comprising 48 males and 3 females—during a raid in the Premier Layout area of Enugu. Items recovered include 18 luxury vehicles, several high-end laptops, and premium smartphones.

Simultaneously, the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC apprehended 47 individuals from multiple locations in the Kwara State capital, including Awolowo Road, Tanke, Harmony Estate, Ganmo, and Amoyo in the Ifelodun Local Government Area. Seized items from this operation included 10 luxury cars, 18 laptops, 74 smartphones, and a motorcycle.

The arrests were made following actionable intelligence linking the suspects to various cybercrime activities. The EFCC confirmed that all arrested individuals will be formally charged once investigations are completed.

The anti-graft agency reiterated its commitment to intensifying the fight against cybercrime and bringing perpetrators to justice.
