Natasha’s Appeal Revealed No Court Order for Recall – Akpabio’s Aide, Okolugbo.
Sir Kenny Okolugbo, media aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, says Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to the Senate wasn’t backed by any court order and was a calculated media stunt.
He said there was no formal notice to the Senate or the Clerk about her return. Quoting Ground 23 of her appeal, he noted:“The learned trial judge failed to expressly make a clear pronouncement SET ASIDE and/or NULLIFY same accordingly.”This, he said, proves her suspension was never lifted.
Her lawyer wrote to the Senate and received a reply, yet she appeared with supporters and cameras, which he described as a disruptive act.“If a recall had been ordered, the Clerk would inform leadership, followed by proper procedures,” he said. Defending Akpabio, he cited Section 60 of the Constitution and Senate Rule 14(2),saying the Senate followed due process after she violated Orders 6.1 and 6.2.
He dismissed her allegations, including s+xual h@rassment and organ harvesting ,as false and baseless, noting the accusations came only after she lost her committee chairmanship.
“That timing is very suspicious,” he added. Okolugbo stressed that Akpabio has no EFCC case and Senate work continued during her suspension, including the passage of a bill for a medical centre in her hometown.
He revealed that the Senate included a clause allowing her return if she publicly apologized, but she refused.“Even Brekete Family advised her to apologize,” he said. He warned her actions harm the image of women in politics.“We need more women in power, but with integrity,” he added.
The controversy, he said, could end if she retracts her claims and apologizes.“Otherwise, legal processes will take their course.”
