• Enugu Commissioner Ezeh Denies Sponsoring Violence in Mburubu, Says Allegations Are Politically Driven

Enugu State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, has denied allegations that he armed youths and sponsored violent attacks in the crisis-torn Mburubu community. The accusations, linked to a protracted traditional leadership tussle, came from community stakeholders who claimed he orchestrated clashes and targeted Igweship contender Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe. In a rebuttal issued through his media aide, Ezeh described the claims as fabricated and politically motivated, insisting he has no interest in the Igweship stool and that court rulings have already disqualified Onuokaibe. He added that the recent unrest was triggered by Onuokaibe’s alleged disobedience to court and police directives regarding the suspended New Yam Festival. Ezeh urged the public to disregard the allegations, asserting that the law and community constitution support his position.

• Nigeria Thrash Gabon 4–1 in World Cup Play-off Showdown.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night, defeating Gabon 4–1 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Play-off clash.

The match, played at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan in Rabat, Morocco, saw Nigeria assert control early and maintain pressure throughout the game.

Victor Osimhen scored twice as Nigeria’s Super Eagles delivered a commanding 4-1 win over Gabon in extra time, booking their place in the next stage of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Thursday at Stade Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco.

After a goalless first half, Nigeria broke the deadlock through Akor Adams, who capitalised on a defensive error to put the Eagles ahead early in the second half. Gabon responded with a late equaliser just four minutes from time, sending the match into extra time.

In extra time, Chidera Ejuke calmly restored Nigeria’s lead before Osimhen added two more goals to seal a resounding victory. The Super Eagles’ defence, marshalled by Benjamin Frederick and Calvin Bassey, held firm to deny Gabon any comeback.

The result edges Nigeria closer to a World Cup spot, following their dominant 4-0 triumph over Benin Republic in the group stages, during which Osimhen scored a hat-trick. Gabon, finishing second in Group F behind Ivory Coast, also advanced to the playoff round.

With this victory, Nigeria move to the top of their qualification group, strengthening their chances of booking a place at the 2026 World Cup.

• Large Movement of Fulani Herdsmen Reportedly Leaving Nigeria for Cameroon via Adamawa Border.

Reports from Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State indicate that a significant number of Fulani herdsmen, many traveling on motorbikes, are moving out of Nigeria across the border into Cameroon. According to eyewitness accounts, including that of local observer Patrick Anum, the movement has been steady and organized, with groups seen heading towards border communities in the early hours of the day.

The movement is suspected to be an act of fleeing the country by the killer herdsmen due to the threat by the head of the American Government, President Donald Trump that the US could intervene in Northern Nigeria, killing terrorists allegedly persecuting Christians if the Nigerian Government refuses to ‘act fast’.

What has drawn attention, however, is the apparent lack of interference by Nigerian security agencies stationed along the border routes. Sources suggest that the herdsmen are being allowed to cross freely, raising questions about whether the movement is coordinated or part of a broader security realignment in the region.

This development comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity and shifting dynamics in Nigeria’s northern states. In recent months, the Nigerian security architecture has undergone multiple operations targeting banditry, terrorism, and cross-border criminal activities, particularly in the North East and North West regions. Military offensives in parts of Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna have reportedly displaced several armed groups, pushing some to seek refuge or reorganize in neighboring countries.

Security analysts suggest that the movement of Fulani groups toward Cameroon could be linked to these intensified operations. Some observers fear that the exodus might not merely be pastoral migration but could involve elements retreating from ongoing military pressure or attempting to regroup across the border. Others, however, view it as part of the seasonal transhumance pattern traditional herding movements that have been complicated in recent years by conflict, climate change, and growing insecurity.

The federal government has recently emphasized the need for tighter border surveillance and regional cooperation to manage such cross border movements. Yet, the apparent passivity of local security personnel in Adamawa has sparked debate over whether this current migration is being tacitly permitted or simply beyond the capacity of existing border control mechanisms.

As northern Nigeria continues to grapple with overlapping security challenges from insurgency and banditry to farmer-herder tensions this latest development underscores the fragile nature of border management and the deep interconnection between internal security and regional mobility.

Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an interim order empowering Lotus Bank Limited to take possession of all assets belonging to Unpacked Limited (in receivership), a company owned by Oluwafeyikemi Abudu and guaranteed by Oluwafemi Badewole, over an alleged debt of ₦532,691,920.86.

The order followed an ex parte motion filed by the bank’s counsel, A. Adedoyin-Adetunji, seeking the court’s approval to recover the outstanding sum arising from an Ijara Muntaluya Bittamleek (lease-to-own) facility extended to the company.

Court Grants Takeover of Assets and Accounts
In the motion, marked FHC/L/CS/2097/2025, Lotus Bank prayed the court for leave to take over the company’s movable and immovable assets, as well as funds domiciled in several financial institutions across the country.

The bank also sought an order restraining over 25 banks and financial institutions—including GTBank, Access Bank, First Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank, and Fidelity Bank—from releasing or tampering with any funds linked to the defendants’ accounts or Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs).

The restraining order also extends to digital finance platforms such as Opay, Palmpay, Paystack, Piggyvest, and Momo Agent, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Receiver Empowered to Take Possession
The court further authorised Patrick Mgbeoma, the receiver/manager appointed by Lotus Bank, to take possession of and realise all assets belonging to Unpacked Limited, including fixed and floating assets, equipment, and undertakings covered under the Deed of All Assets Debenture dated May 25, 2025, and the Deed of Appointment of Receiver dated October 6, 2025.

Justice Dipeolu also granted the bank’s request for police assistance, directing the Inspector-General of Police, senior officers, and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, to provide security support to court bailiffs and the receiver during the takeover process.

According to the motion, the affected company operates from VPD Academy Building 4, Thorburn Avenue, Yaba, Lagos, where the bank alleged some of the assets under the loan agreement were located. The court’s order enables bailiffs and enforcement officers to gain access to the premises and secure all relevant assets.

• Pokémon Legends: Z-A Hidden Mega Pokémon Locations
If you’ve been exploring Lumiose City and the surrounding regions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you might have noticed something curious—certain Pokémon feel a bit too powerful, even for regular Alpha encounters. That’s because Mega Evolutions are making a return in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but not in the way you’d expect. Many Mega Pokémon aren’t given to you through story progression; they’re hidden across the map, waiting for trainers who know where to look.

Below is a guide to help you uncover these elusive Mega Pokémon and make the most out of your exploration.

1. Mega Lucario – Tower Ruins in Central Lumiose

Mega Lucario can be found deep within the old Tower Ruins area, a zone that unlocks after completing a few Lumiose City missions. Look for aura flares at night—they hint at Lucario’s meditative spot. You’ll need a high friendship with your own Riolu or Lucario to trigger the encounter. Bring a few strong Poké Balls and patience, because this Mega form is tough to weaken without fainting it.

2. Mega Gardevoir – Café District Secret Room

Head to the Café District and complete a side quest involving a mysterious musician. Once done, you’ll gain access to a hidden room behind the café stage. Mega Gardevoir spawns during early morning hours in-game, surrounded by psychic energy effects. It’s a graceful yet powerful opponent, so prepare your team accordingly.

3. Mega Charizard X – Ashen Volcano Region

One of the most cinematic encounters in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Charizard X appears near the peak of the Ashen Volcano after you complete the regional research on Fire-type Pokémon. Watch for a short cutscene hinting at the “dragon of black flame.” You’ll need fire-resistant gear and plenty of healing items. Trainers often stock up before this fight—if you’re short on materials, you can always buy Pokémon ZA items in-game to prepare for the encounter.

4. Mega Gyarados – The Sunken Docks

The Sunken Docks area can be accessed after unlocking aquatic traversal Pokémon. Dive deep into the ruins, and you’ll eventually find a whirlpool guarded by a glowing red Gyarados. To battle it in its Mega form, you’ll first need to calm the storm by completing a side mission given by a dockworker NPC. Water- and Electric-type Pokémon work best for this encounter.

5. Mega Absol – Forgotten Forest at Twilight

Mega Absol’s location is among the trickiest to reach. You’ll need to visit the Forgotten Forest during twilight hours, when the mist is thickest. The encounter only triggers if you have a pure Dark-type Pokémon leading your team. This battle is as much about timing as it is about preparation. Many players who want to catch it efficiently look for cheap Legends ZA Pokémon to round out their party with the right counters before heading into the forest.

6. Bonus Tip: Hidden Mega Stones

To trigger Mega Evolutions, you’ll need the appropriate Mega Stones. They can be found scattered across Lumiose City, often hidden in abandoned alleys, rooftops, or near major landmarks. Keep your scanning gadget on at all times—it emits a faint glow when a Mega Stone is nearby. Some stones may even appear as mission rewards for completing high-difficulty requests.

The Mega Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A add a whole new layer of strategy to exploration. Each encounter feels like a mini-legend of its own, encouraging you to explore every inch of the map. Whether you’re hunting for Mega Lucario in ancient ruins or braving the Ashen Volcano for Mega Charizard X, these challenges are some of the most rewarding moments in the game.

Take your time, prepare your team well, and don’t forget—sometimes the key to victory lies in how you approach each encounter, not just how powerful your Pokémon are.

Mega Charizard X – Ashen Volcano Region One of the most cinematic encounters in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Charizard X appears near the peak of the Ashen Volcano after you complete the regional research on Fire-type Pokémon. Watch for a short cutscene hinting at the “dragon of black flame.” You’ll need fire-resistant gear and plenty of healing items. Trainers often stock up before this fight—if you’re short on materials, you can always buy Pokémon ZA items in-game to prepare for the encounter. 4. Mega Gyarados – The Sunken Docks The Sunken Docks area can be accessed after unlocking aquatic traversal Pokémon. 5. Mega Absol – Forgotten Forest at Twilight Mega Absol’s location is among the trickiest to reach. 6. Bonus Tip: Hidden Mega Stones To trigger Mega Evolutions, you’ll need the appropriate Mega Stones.

• 4 African Countries Flagged for Cybercrime as Interpol Makes 260 Arrests.

Interpol has arrested 260 people in a crackdown on online fraud across Africa, with four countries identified as key hotspots for cybercrime.

The operation, called Operation Contender 3.0, took place between July 28 and August 11, 2025, and involved security agencies in 14 African nations.

This is a growing threat online
The sweep focused on crimes such as romance scams and sextortion, which have been on the rise across the continent.

These schemes trick people into sending money or intimate content, which criminals later use for blackmail. Investigators reported that victims lost about $2.8 million, with some funds recovered during the operation.

Authorities also dismantled 81 cybercrime infrastructures and seized more than 1,200 devices, including laptops, phones, forged IDs, SIM cards, and USB drives used by fraudsters. Interpol said the arrests show how online platforms are increasingly being exploited by criminal groups to target vulnerable people, causing both financial and emotional damage.

Four hotspot countries that stood out Although arrests were made across several countries, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Angola were highlighted as major hubs where cybercrime networks were most active.

Ghana recorded the highest number of arrests, with 68 suspects taken into custody. Police also seized 835 electronic devices and traced $450,000 in losses linked to scams. Some $70,000 of this money was successfully recovered. Most of the schemes involved fake courier and customs stories used to trick victims into paying fees.

Senegal arrested 22 people accused of running a network that impersonated celebrities on social media. The suspects reportedly defrauded 120 victims of about $34,000. Police seized dozens of forged IDs, devices, and money transfer records.

• Asake Speaks on Humility vs Ego in the Music Industry

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has shed light on the tricky balance between humility and ego in the entertainment world.

In a recent interview, the Mr Money With The Vibe crooner explained that while humility is often praised in society, it can actually work against artists in the music scene. He noted that fans tend to take humble artistes for granted, whereas those who project a bit of ego are often seen as more desirable and respected.

“As an artiste, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible, then they like you more,” Asake said.

He further explained that audiences generally care more about the finished product than the process behind it. According to him, people rarely value the hard work shown behind the scenes, but they quickly recognize and respect results.

“People would rather see what you’re doing than showing them. They don’t really appreciate it. Do what you need to do and just go,” he added.

Asake emphasized the need for artistes to focus on their craft and let their results speak louder than any attempt at validation. In his view, in an industry where glamour often overshadows sincerity, ego can sometimes work as a protective shield while humility may be mistaken for weakness.

• Nigerian Man Jailed 71 Months for Defrauding U.S. Widow of $1.6m in Romance Scam.

A U.S. court has sentenced Nigerian citizen, Adetomiwa Seun Akindele, to 71 months in prison for defrauding a Colorado widow of $1.6 million through a romance scam.

Akindele, using the false identity of “Frank Labato,” a supposed Italian-American businessman, tricked the victim into opening a cryptocurrency account and transferring over $1.6 million between January and October 2018.

According to prosecutors, he reinforced the scam with emails, phone calls, and stolen photos, later claiming to face a financial crisis. He funneled the funds through multiple crypto exchanges before moving them into his personal accounts. To allay suspicion, he even issued the victim three fake promissory notes, none of which were honored.

Judge Charlotte N. Sweeney not only handed down the prison sentence but also ordered Akindele to repay $1,692,945 and forfeit the same amount. He will be deported to Nigeria after serving his term.

FBI Denver Special Agent Mark Michalek described romance scammers as “relentless and cunning,” while U.S. Attorney Peter McNeilly said the sentence delivers justice and helps protect future victims.

The case was investigated by the FBI Denver Field Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Martha A. Paluch.

• Microsoft shut down Nigeria linked phishing service RaccoonO365.

Microsoft has dismantled a global phishing network known as RaccoonO365, seizing more than 300 malicious websites that cybercriminals used to steal user credentials through fake Microsoft login pages.

The company’s Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) said it obtained authorization from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to take down 338 domains associated with the scheme. The service, which operated on a subscription basis, allowed even low-skilled attackers to run large-scale credential theft campaigns using pre-packaged phishing kits.

According to Microsoft, the operation was allegedly coordinated by Joshua Ogundipe, a Nigerian computer programmer believed to have written much of the malicious code. Ogundipe and his associates were said to have developed the phishing software, managed subscription sales, and even provided technical support to other criminals who purchased the kits.

In a statement, the company explained that the phishing tools were designed to impersonate Microsoft branding and trick users into sharing sensitive information. “To deceive users, RaccoonO365’s kits use Microsoft branding to make fraudulent emails, attachments, and websites appear legitimate, enticing recipients to open, click, and enter their information,” Microsoft said.

Since July 2024, the kits have been used to steal at least 5,000 Microsoft credentials across 94 countries. Microsoft explained that while not all stolen information resulted in compromised networks or fraud due to remediation by security features, the figures highlight the scale of the threat and the persistence of social engineering tactics in cybercrime.

Investigators said the criminals behind the scheme attempted to cover their tracks by registering internet domains under false names and addresses spread across several countries. The phishing kits were primarily distributed through Telegram, where attackers could acquire tools to send thousands of emails daily, with the potential to scale operations to hundreds of millions of messages each year.

Microsoft added that the group had begun developing new tools to make attacks more effective, including a system named RaccoonO365 AI-MailCheck, which was intended to increase the reach and sophistication of phishing campaigns.

The investigation received a major boost after an operational security mistake by the attackers revealed a cryptocurrency wallet connected to their infrastructure. This slip gave Microsoft’s team a way to trace the scope of the operation and identify those behind it.
