Police No Longer Bossy, Now More Civil To Nigerians – AIG Omolabi.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, covering Ondo and Ekiti States, Mr. Ajani Omolabi, has assured that the Nigeria Police Force is now more civil and people-friendly in its operations.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Omolabi said the shift from a “bossy” style of policing to a more open and engaging approach has improved public trust and cooperation, making it easier for the police to gather intelligence for crime f+ghting.
“The police have become civil rather than being bossy. We now engage people at their level, build understanding, and this helps us to get information more easily,” he explained.
According to him, the open-door policy, community-level engagement, and training seminars for officers in the zone have enhanced professionalism, transparency, and collaboration with the public.
Omolabi also noted that he has held meetings with community leaders, encouraging them to freely approach Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Commissioners of Police, or even himself to share information, assuring that such informants would always be protected.
He urged Nigerians to see the police as friends and partners in the fight against crime, emphasizing that officers are ultimately servants of the people.
