• “Sowore Accuses Global Powers of Exploiting Resource-Rich Countries Under Humanitarian Pretext: Venezuela Crisis Highlighted”

Nigerian human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has sharply criticized the recent Venezuelan crisis, in which U.S. and allied forces reportedly captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sowore described the operation as a violation of international law and Venezuela’s sovereignty, framing it as a pattern of global powers using humanitarian or security pretexts to intervene in resource-rich nations.
Sowore contends that the official narrative of fighting drug cartels or promoting moral rescue is often a smokescreen for strategic and economic exploitation. He draws parallels to past interventions in Iraq and Libya, arguing that the true motives of foreign powers are resource extraction, destabilization, and maintaining global dominance, leaving affected countries perpetually poor and vulnerable.
Criticizing former U.S. President Donald Trump, Sowore described him as “merely the latest rider of this global Trojan horse,” highlighting that while rhetoric changes, the machinery of exploitation remains consistent. Sowore emphasized that such interventions are tragic for humanity, as entire societies bear the cost while foreign powers profit under the guise of benevolence.
His comments come amid widespread international condemnation of the Venezuelan operation, with several African governments and activist groups questioning the legality of such actions. Sowore’s critique reignites debate over foreign interventions, exposing the tension between humanitarian claims and underlying geopolitical and economic interests.

In a statement on X, Sowore described the UN as a “hollow institution” that has failed to maintain international peace and security, citing recent U.S. military actions in Venezuela as an example of the body’s impotence.

He accused the UN of being compromised, unable to prevent aggression, war crimes, and abuses of power by influential nations. Sowore argued that the organization has lost its legitimacy and should be replaced with a new global coalition of nation-states capable of upholding justice, protecting humanity, and preventing tyranny. His remarks reflect growing skepticism toward multilateral institutions, particularly in the Global South.

  • Ghanaian Self-Styled Prophet Ebo Noah Remanded in Custody, Court Orders Psychiatric Evaluation Over Doomsday Flood Prophecy That Sparked Nationwide Panic

A Ghanaian self-styled prophet, Ebo Noah, born Evans Eshun, has been remanded in custody by the Adenta District Court and ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation following his arrest over a controversial doomsday prophecy. Eshun was arrested on December 31, 2025, by operatives of the Ghana Police Service Special Cyber Vetting Team for false communication and causing fear and panic after he predicted that the world would be submerged by a global flood on December 25, 2025.

The prophecy, widely circulated on social media, triggered widespread anxiety, with hundreds of people—some from neighbouring countries—reportedly abandoning their homes and travelling with luggage to Eshun’s premises, where he claimed an “ark” he built would save humanity. When the predicted flood failed to occur, Eshun released a video claiming that prayers and fasting had convinced God to postpone the destruction, rather than admitting the prophecy was false.

Public outrage intensified after he appeared at rapper Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025 concert, telling attendees to celebrate because the alleged doom had been delayed. The court has adjourned the case to January 15, 2026, pending the outcome of the psychiatric assessment. The incident has reignited national debate in Ghana over religious extremism, misinformation, public safety, and the limits of free expression, as authorities move to hold the self-proclaimed prophet accountable for the social disruption caused by his claims.

  • Ghana Police Arrest Self-Styled Prophet Ebo Noah Over Failed Christmas 2025 Doomsday Prophecy That Sparked Nationwide Panic

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a self-styled prophet, Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, over a controversial doomsday prediction that claimed the world would end on Christmas Day 2025. His arrest followed months of widespread anxiety triggered by the prophecy, which led hundreds of followers to abandon their homes, jobs and schools in anticipation of a global flood.

Ebo Noah first gained national attention in August 2025 after declaring that God instructed him to build 10 modern-day arks to save humanity from a three-year worldwide flood set to begin on December 25, 2025. Through social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, he shared videos of himself supervising the construction of wooden vessels, claiming to have acquired over 250,000 pieces of timber and presenting the arks as the only refuge for believers.

As Christmas approached, panic intensified, with followers travelling from across Ghana and neighbouring countries to his ark site with their belongings. When the predicted flood failed to occur, Ebo Noah released a video claiming that his prayers and a three-week fast had persuaded God to postpone the destruction.

Public outrage grew after he made a controversial appearance at rapper Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025 concert, where he encouraged fans to celebrate, saying the doom had been delayed. The appearance sparked backlash and renewed calls for his arrest over alleged deception and public disturbance.

Police authorities confirmed he was detained on December 31, 2025, citing concerns over the social impact of his claims and earlier warnings against prophecies capable of causing public fear and unrest, especially during the festive and New Year period.

A Nigerian pastor has demanded the arrest of Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi after the cleric criticized the U.S. military strike on ISIS terrorist camps in Sokoto State. Social media users have reacted with mixed opinions, highlighting ongoing debates about the cleric’s role and influence in northern Nigeria.

  • Igbo Community In Sokoto Celebrates Christmas With Nnamdi Kanu, Shares Meals With Over 1,300 Prison Inmates

The Igbo community in Sokoto State marked the 2025 Christmas celebration by extending a humanitarian gesture to inmates of the Sokoto Correctional Centre, including the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The community spent Christmas Day at the facility, sharing meals, fellowship, and goodwill with inmates as part of activities inspired by compassion, communal responsibility, and the spirit of the season.

According to a statement signed by Nze A. C. Madu on behalf of the Sokoto Igbo community leadership, the outreach was motivated by Igbo cultural values of solidarity and humanity, as well as what the group described as Nnamdi Kanu’s reported preference not to dine alone during festive periods. Rather than focusing on a single individual, the community said it chose an inclusive approach by providing meals for the entire inmate population.

The statement explained that the initiative ensured that all approximately 1,300 inmates at the correctional centre benefitted from the Christmas celebration, regardless of background or circumstance. Members of the Igbo community reportedly shared food and moments of fellowship with the inmates, offering comfort and a sense of belonging during the holiday.

Describing the visit as a humanitarian service rooted in Igbo traditions, the community said the gesture reflected the principle of being one another’s keeper and underscored universal ideals of charity, compassion, and shared goodwill. The group expressed hope that the outreach would promote peace, unity, and mutual understanding beyond the festive season.

Nnamdi Kanu is currently being held at the Sokoto Correctional Centre following his conviction and sentencing in November 2025 by Justice James Omotosho. The IPOB leader was sentenced to life imprisonment on multiple terrorism-related counts, alongside additional jail terms of 20 years and five years on other counts, all without an option of fine. Despite widespread criticism of the judgment, Kanu has indicated his intention to challenge both the conviction and sentence at the appellate court.

  • Russia Accuses Western Countries of Promoting “Gender Garbage” on Children, Condemns What It Calls Monstrous Experiments on Minors

Russia has accused some countries of pushing dangerous gender policies on children, warning that such approaches amount to what it described as “monstrous” experiments being carried out on minors. The allegation was made by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, who criticised governments she said have turned controversial gender ideologies into long-standing state doctrine.
Zakharova argued that these policies are no longer limited to adult self-identification but are now being enforced through legislation and imposed on children from birth. She described the trend as a dangerous global shift, claiming it represents a moral and societal abyss that humanity is being led toward by certain political regimes.
According to her, the most alarming development is that children have become the primary focus of these policies, with some countries legally allowing the possibility of gender change at birth. She said such measures are unprecedented and deeply troubling, stressing that these “experiments” are being conducted not on others’ children, but on citizens’ own children.
While stating she would never directly compare current policies to the crimes of Nazi Germany, Zakharova nonetheless claimed that humanity has arrived at something “comparable in form,” arguing that it is paradoxically being celebrated in some societies as progress in understanding human identity.
Her remarks reflect Russia’s long-standing opposition to liberal gender and LGBTQ+ policies in Western countries, a position Moscow consistently frames as a defence of traditional values and cultural norms against what it views as harmful ideological experimentation.

  • President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and ensuring that no Nigerian suffers persecution because of their faith, as he delivered his 2025 Christmas goodwill message to Christians across the country and around the world.

In the message released on Tuesday, December 24, President Tinubu said his government remains firmly dedicated to upholding national unity, peaceful coexistence, and the constitutional right of all Nigerians to freely practise their religion without fear, intimidation, or violence. He stressed that religious differences must never be a source of division or conflict in Nigeria.

Tinubu disclosed that throughout the year, his administration has actively engaged prominent leaders from Nigeria’s two major religions—Christianity and Islam—particularly amid growing concerns over religious intolerance, insecurity, and allegations of targeted attacks against Christian communities in parts of the country. According to him, these engagements are aimed at strengthening collaboration between government and religious institutions to prevent conflict and foster mutual understanding.

The President said his government would build on these discussions to deepen cooperation with faith-based leaders, promote dialogue, and encourage peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of different religious backgrounds. He emphasised that the protection of religious freedom remains a key pillar of his administration’s governance agenda.

Extending Christmas greetings to Christians, Tinubu described the season as a period of reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of love, peace, hope, and salvation. He noted that Christmas goes beyond celebrations and festivities, reminding humanity of Christ’s teachings as the Prince of Peace and a symbol of unity and compassion.

Tinubu thanked God for the opportunity to serve as Nigeria’s President and offered prayers for peace and harmony across the nation, particularly among people of different faiths. He reassured Nigerians that his government remains resolute in safeguarding the rights of all citizens to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity.

“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” Tinubu said, adding that no individual, regardless of ethnicity or belief, should be made to suffer for professing or practising their faith.

The President also acknowledged the role of Christians in Nigeria’s social development, noting that Christian values have inspired acts of charity, care for the vulnerable, and efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and harmony in communities across the country. He commended individuals and groups who continue to work selflessly to support the less privileged and strengthen social cohesion.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to security and stability, Tinubu said his government has consistently reassured Nigerians of its determination to safeguard the nation’s unity since assuming office in 2023. He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating that collective strength, faith in God, and national solidarity would help overcome current challenges.

As Nigerians travel during the festive season, the President urged citizens to exercise patience, discipline, and caution on the roads, wishing all travellers safe journeys and peaceful celebrations. He concluded by expressing confidence that, with divine guidance and unity of purpose, Nigeria would continue progressing toward a future that coming generations would be proud of.

  • PRESIDENT TINUBU'S 2025 CHRISTMAS GOODWILL MESSAGE

    My Fellow Nigerians,

As we mark this year's Christmas, may the love of Christ and his message of grace, hope, peace, and goodwill to humanity abide with us all.

Beyond the celebration and festivities of this season, Christmas reminds us to reflect on the significance of Jesus Christ's birth and his message of salvation as the Prince of Peace.

On this Holy Day, I wish all Christians in Nigeria and around the world a Merry Christmas. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as the leader of our great country, and I pray for peace in our land, especially among individuals of differing religious beliefs.

As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us also reflect on the many contributions that Christians in Nigeria, as followers of Christ, have made and continue to make toward the progress of our country.

The love of Christ and the message of the Gospel have inspired many Christians to care for the vulnerable and less privileged in our society. We honour those who, following the example of Jesus, work tirelessly to promote peace, harmony, and tolerance in their communities.

For those who bring hope and faith in the midst of despair, this season is a reminder that, despite daunting challenges, God is with us.

Since I assumed office in 2023, I have continually reassured Nigerians of our unyielding commitment to safeguarding the security, unity, and stability of our nation.

That commitment remains steadfast under God and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. All Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity.

No one, regardless of ethnicity or belief, should be made to suffer for professing and practising his faith. The love for God and love for humanity is at the heart of all the great faiths. These shared values must continue to bind us together as one indivisible and resilient people of our blessed country.

Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of engaging with prominent leaders from the two major faiths in the country, particularly amid concerns about religious intolerance and insecurity. We will build on these conversations to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions, prevent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.

As many Nigerians travel to reunite with family and loved ones during this holiday period, I urge all citizens to exercise patience and maintain discipline on the roads.

I wish all travellers a safe journey and a safe return to their destinations.

With confidence in divine providence and our collective strength, we will continue the work of building a greater Nigeria-one that future generations will be proud of.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.

PRESIDENT TINUBU'S 2025 CHRISTMAS GOODWILL MESSAGE My Fellow Nigerians, As we mark this year's Christmas, may the love of Christ and his message of grace, hope, peace, and goodwill to humanity abide with us all. • Algeria Seeks Formal Apology from France, Moves to Declare Colonisation a “State Crime”

Algeria’s parliament is set to vote on a bill declaring French colonisation of Algeria (1830–1962) a “state crime,” demanding a formal apology and reparations. While largely symbolic, the legislation carries significant political weight, highlighting Algeria’s insistence on historical accountability. French President Macron has acknowledged colonisation as a “crime against humanity” but has not issued an official apology. Experts note that the law has no international legal force but underscores the enduring diplomatic tensions between Algiers and Paris.

  • Obaseki: God Will Punish Leaders Who Use Power for Themselves, Not the People

Godwin Obaseki, former governor of Edo State, has warned that politicians who use power for personal gain rather than public service will face divine punishment. In a video shared on his official X page, Obaseki said politics should be about improving lives, not acquiring power for selfish reasons.

According to him, leaders who enrich themselves and their close associates after attaining office betray both God and the people. He described political power as a divine trust that must be used in service to humanity and to glorify God.

“If you are in politics to get power, and you get the power and it’s only for you and your friends and the people close to you, then God will punish you,” he said. Obaseki added that failing to use power in line with God’s purpose is a serious moral failure. “Because if God has given you power, and you cannot use that power directly for Him, glorify Him, then I don’t see how you will do it,” he stated.

Reflecting on his time in office, the former governor said he had no regrets and would not change his approach if given another chance. “What would I do differently if I had another opportunity? Nothing. I will do it in the same way… even quicker and faster,” he said, noting that he wished some education reforms had started earlier to produce more visible results.

He also explained that his backing of a successor was intentional, aimed at ensuring continuity of policies and reforms. Obaseki warned that dismantling programmes introduced by his administration would ultimately hurt ordinary citizens, not former leaders. “You add to what you met, not destroy it,” he said, stressing that removing social services like health insurance and hospitals would only deepen the suffering of the people.

  • CAIR Condemns U.S. Sanctions on ICC Judges, Calls Move “Lawless Cover-Up of Israel War Crimes”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has strongly criticized the United States for sanctioning two International Criminal Court (ICC) judges involved in cases targeting Israeli nationals. CAIR described the sanctions as a “lawless” attempt to shield Israel from accountability for alleged war crimes in Gaza, undermining international law and judicial independence. The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, sanctioned the judges under Executive Order 14203, claiming their actions violated U.S. and Israeli sovereignty. CAIR warned that punishing judges for performing their duties sets a dangerous precedent, diminishes U.S. credibility on human rights, and impedes accountability for crimes against humanity, including the deaths of tens of thousands in Gaza.

  • Court Remands Imo Woman Over Alleged Attempted Murder of Five-Year-Old Girl as Magistrate Orders DPP Review

An Owerri Chief Magistrate Court in Imo State has ordered the remand of Mrs. Juliet Igwe at the Owerri Correctional Centre over allegations of attempted murder and grievous harm against a five-year-old girl, Onyinyechi. The charge, filed by the Imo State Police Command, stems from an incident said to have occurred on November 25, during which the child sustained severe physical injuries and was allegedly left in critical condition for days. Magistrate B. U. Adikibe ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction because the offence carries a possible life sentence, directing that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The case gained public attention following the intervention of the Stand For Humanity Foundation, which rescued the child, facilitated the suspect’s arrest, and ensured medical treatment for the victim.
