• Male Presidents Have Failed Us!” – Aisha Yesufu Declares It’s Time for a Woman to Lead Nigeria.

Human rights activist and Co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has said that men have failed in leading Nigeria and that it is time for a woman to take charge.

Speaking boldly at the Girls Summit held in Umuahia, Abia State, Yesufu declared, “Male Presidents have failed us!” and insisted that women must no longer be sidelined from positions of power, especially the presidency.

She challenged the stereotypes and cultural barriers that continue to hold women back, saying it was unfair that female aspirants are often ridiculed while men, no matter how incompetent, are accepted as leaders.

“No matter how bad a man is, nobody says he can’t be President but the moment a woman is running, she will be told a woman can’t be President,” she said.

The outspoken activist urged the government and society to dismantle all forms of discrimination that stop women from realizing their potential.

She also called for stronger protection of widows and for harmful cultural practices against them to be abolished.

Her speech received loud applause from participants who agreed with her call for equality and inclusion.

Yesufu also praised the Founder of Protect the Precious Foundation, Norah Okafor, for creating platforms that empower young girls and give them a voice.

  • Aliko Dangote, Wale Edun, PENGASSAN currently meeting over labour dispute.

Aliko Dangote, the founder of Dangote refinery, Wale Edun, the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, and representatives of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) are currently meeting over the ongoing labour dispute, TheCable understands.

The meeting, which was moved to the office of the national security adviser (NSA), follows the failure of earlier talks between the two parties to resolve the lingering industrial dispute.

Abubakar Bagudu, the minister of budget and economic planning. Mohammed Dingyadi, minister of labour and employment, and representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), are present at the meeting.

The ministry of labour first convened a reconciliation session on Monday, with Dingyadi and Nkiruka Onyejeocha, minister of state for labour and employment, in attendance.

On September 29, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) called on the management of Dangote refinery to reverse the employment termination of “over 800 Nigerian employees”.

The directive comes amid a dispute between the refinery and PENGASSAN over the mass dismissal of employees.

PENGASSAN, on September 26, instructed its members to embark on a nationwide strike over the dismissal.

Reacting to the development in a statement on Monday, Dangote refinery asked Nigerians to stand against the PENGASSAN and the TUC over the industrial action against the company.

The refinery described the TUC as “zombie-like” for declaring full solidarity with PENGASSAN and threatening a nationwide strike “without making any effort to verify the claims on which the action was based”.

  • It’s Cultural, Not Biblical, for Men to Provide for Women – Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo.

The founder of David’s Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, has urged women to stop depending on men for financial support, stressing that such expectations are rooted in culture, not scripture.

In a recent sermon, Okonkwo explained that the Bible encourages hard work and personal responsibility rather than dependency. He argued that women should not expect men to cater to their financial needs, reminding them that scripture clearly states, “He that does not work should not eat.”

The clergyman questioned why many women who were self-reliant before marriage suddenly shift the burden of survival to their husbands or partners. He described this mindset as “p++r people talk,” pointing out that individuals from wealthy backgrounds are usually raised with the mentality of self-sufficiency.

Okonkwo also criticized women who define their worth by what men can provide, warning that this often leads to exploitation and disrespect. According to him, women who set low standards based on material demands, such as insisting a man must buy them little gifts to gain attention, end up being mistreated.

“The way some of you are being treated is because of how you’ve rated yourself. If you say, ‘If you don’t buy me popcorn, I won’t come,’ then don’t be surprised when they pop you like corn. You’re disgracing your family,” he cautioned.

  • BREAKING: NDLEA Arrests Popular Nigerian Pastor for Drug Dealing .

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, over his alleged role in cross-border drug trafficking.

Prophet Adefolusho was picked up on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church on Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos, after NDLEA operatives laid siege to the premises throughout the day. Officers moved in shortly after he concluded the evening service and stepped out of the church building.

According to the NDLEA, the clergyman had been on the run for months, fleeing to Ghana after twice evading arrest. His arrest follows the seizure of two large consignments of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, allegedly linked to him. The first, weighing 200kg, was intercepted at Okun Ajah beach on June 4, while another 700kg was recovered from his delivery van on July 6.

In his statement to investigators, Prophet Adefolusho reportedly admitted to ferrying the drugs into Nigeria through the waterways from Ghana. He also confirmed he had been hiding in the West African country to avoid capture.

In a separate operation in Lagos on Thursday, August 7, NDLEA operatives raided an apartment at Kishi House, 11 Layi Ajayi Bembe Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi. A suspect, Benjamin Udo Ukoh, was arrested, and 32 pouches of Canadian Loud, weighing 15.63kg, were recovered.

Other raids across the country in the past week led to massive drug seizures:

Nasarawa State: On Saturday, August 9, officers recovered 3,093kg of skunk from three suspects — Emmanuel Asoquo Johnny (51), Okem Raphael (33), and Chekwube Odo (25) — in New Karu.
Kano State: On Friday, August 8, 639 blocks of skunk, weighing 359kg, were seized from 29-year-old Nura Yahaya in Geza, Kumbotso. On Wednesday, August 6, Umar Adamu Umar (27) was arrested along Zaria-Kano road with 9kg of Colorado. Another suspect, Usman Musa (30), was caught at Gadar Tamburawa with 20,000 pills of tramadol and 200 ampoules of diazepam.
Gombe State: A raid at Tudun Wadan Pantami on Friday, August 8, uncovered 550,266 pills of opioids, mostly tramadol, and led to the arrest of Usama Isah. On Saturday, August 9, Ibrahim Adamu (23) was caught along Potiskum road, Bajoga, with 50,000 capsules of tramadol.

  • You don’t go to God to solve your problems— Pastor Abel Damina.

In a recent conversation with Nedu, Pastor Abel Damina challenged the mindset of using God as a quick fix for life’s problems. He called it “the corr¥ption of the gospel” when people turn to God only because they’re desper@te, not because they seek a relationship.

The Founder of The Kingdom Life Network pointed out that many churches are filled with the less fortunate, not necessarily because of strong faith, but because poverty has driven them to look for spiritual answers to physical struggles.

Pastor Abel Damina words hit hard not just as critic+sm, but as a reminder: God is not an emergency escape plan. He is a relationship.

  • AMCON Lists Silverbird Abuja Mall Over Ben Murray-Bruce’s ₦10bn Debt.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has listed the Silverbird Entertainment Centre in Abuja for sale as part of efforts to recover a ₦10 billion debt linked to former senator and media mogul, Ben Murray-Bruce.

The debt, owed by companies owned by the Murray-Bruce family—including Silverbird Productions Limited, Silverbird Showtime Limited, and Silverbird Galleria Limited—has remained unresolved since a 2016 court order authorized AMCON to take over their assets.

The Abuja mall, a flagship property of the Silverbird Group, is located in the Central Area of the capital and features cinemas, retail stores, restaurants, and office spaces. According to AMCON, it has a gross lettable area of over 15,000 square metres and is being sold on an “as is” basis.

In June 2016, Justice C.M.A. Olatoregun of the Federal High Court appointed M.A. Banire as receiver and barred Ben Murray-Bruce, his brothers Guy and Roy Murray-Bruce, and other relatives from interfering with the recovery process.

The order also covered mortgaged properties in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt. AMCON stated that the sale is part of a broader asset recovery drive targeting high-profile debtors. As of 2017, over 400 individuals and entities were responsible for ₦4.5 trillion—nearly 80% of AMCON’s outstanding debt portfolio.

Murray-Bruce, who served as senator for Bayelsa East from 2015 to 2019, is the founder of Silverbird Group, which operates TV and radio stations across Nigeria and Ghana and organizes the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant. As of the time of reporting, Ben Murray-Bruce had not commented on the sale.

  • Ben Murray-Bruce predicts World War III, says Nigeria’ll be safe haven for survivors.
The Founder of the Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce has suggested that a future global conflict—potentially a World War III—will devastate much of the world but leave Africa, and particularly Nigeria, unscathed.

In a live interview with a Global Affairs Expert, Dane Waters, on Tuesday, the former senator stated that a war is “inevitable” due to the rise in violence, nuclear weapons, and the increasing presence of what he described as “trigger-happy” leaders across the world.

He, however, added that Nigeria’s lack of nuclear aspirations and peaceful diplomatic posture would shield the continent from the fallout of any future global conflict.

Murray-Bruce said, “We’re in big trouble and as long as we have the kind of leaders we have in the world today, I see World War Three coming and it’s going to be terrible.
