Amid rising claims of northern marginalisation, the Presidency has defended President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure focus, asserting that road and development projects are guided by economic impact, not geography.
Responding to allegations by ex-Kano governor and NNPP chieftain Rabiu Kwankwaso, Presidential Aide Abdulaziz Abdulaziz said on Channels TV that all infrastructure efforts are rooted in national interest, not southern favoritism.
"We must view these as national projects, not North or South. The economic value matters most," Abdulaziz noted, citing the Sokoto-Badagry Road as a key Northern counterpart to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.
He also confirmed that work continues on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, debunking abandonment claims and stressing the administration’s commitment to equity and fairness in development allocation.
