  • Whistleblower Accuses Tinubu-Linked Alpha-Beta Consulting Of Systematic Tax Evasion, Petitions Police, EFCC, ICPC Over Under-Remitted Staff Taxes

A former employee of Alpha-Beta Consulting Limited, Segun Oluwasanmi, has accused the Lagos revenue consulting firm—widely linked to President Bola Tinubu—of long-running and systematic tax evasion through the under-declaration of staff salaries and under-remittance of statutory taxes. The whistleblower has formally petitioned the Nigeria Police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), with copies sent to federal and Lagos State finance authorities. According to Oluwasanmi, Alpha-Beta allegedly split employees’ salaries into two parts, declaring and taxing only a smaller portion while concealing the remainder from tax authorities. Internal company correspondence attached to the petition, including an April 30, 2024 HR memo, reportedly confirms that a Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) audit uncovered tax under-remittance. The whistleblower further alleged that the firm later rebranded undeclared salary components as “reimbursable” payments to evade scrutiny, a practice he said negatively affected employees’ professional credibility and violated multiple Nigerian laws. Civil rights group CDHR, chaired by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), described the alleged conduct as fraud against the Nigerian state and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute Alpha-Beta’s management in accordance with the law.

  • ‘I Didn’t Benefit Anything From You,’ Peller Blasts Lagos Gov’t Over N36m Tax Demand.

Nigerian content creator Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat has slammed the Lagos State Government for demanding N36 million in income tax, calling it excessive and unjustified.

Speaking during a livestream with singer Tobechukwu “Peruzzi” Okoh, Peller said the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) had served him the tax bill despite him receiving no benefits from the government. “The task force said I should pay N36 million in tax.

I swear to Almighty Allah, I don’t have anything. I only came into the limelight last year. Are you, Peruzzi, even paying tax, and how much is it? Why should I pay N36 million? What does that even mean?

Why will the government take money from me when it has never given me anything, not even TikTok support, let alone help from a task force member? “I know this is because of my interview on TVC, where I said I was making money on TikTok.

It was all packaging; I didn’t make any money. I don’t earn from Nigeria; my money comes from social media. I don’t work in any company, and I don’t have any.”

In response, Peruzzi urged him to settle the tax bill, warning of possible arrest if he refused. “Why haven’t you paid your taxes? As a Nigerian, you know you must pay tax. The government doesn’t care whether you only came into the limelight last year.

Do you know how much I pay in tax? I won’t mention it here, but it’s more than the bill they gave you. “You must pay it; if you don’t, the government will arrest you.

They asked you to pay because you’re making money. Once they arrest you, you can go to their office and explain that your interview on TVC was just packaging, but remember, if you’re earning money in Nigeria, you must pay tax,” Peruzzi told Peller.

  • Do You Want To K!Ll Me?”- Peller Cries Out Over ₦18m Tax Bill From Government.

Nigerian TikToker, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly called Peller, has cried out after receiving what he described as a shocking ₦18 million tax bill from the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service (LIRS).

In a viral video, the content creator appealed to the government to show compassion.

“Government, please, I need you to pity me. I don’t have anything; I am just managing. How can you tell me to come and pay a huge tax? Do you want to k!ll me? You also have someone like me as a child at home? Why are you doing this to me?” he lamented.

Peller linked the development to an online rumour claiming he paid fellow TikToker, Gehgeh, ₦25 million to feature on his livestream.

In another clip, he denied the claim, saying: “Please don’t listen to him (Gehgeh). I did not pay such an amount. It was my fans who contributed to the studio payment. I am just a normal guy on the street. Even the partnerships I do online, they don’t pay more than ₦200k or ₦500k.”

He stressed that the viral ₦25 million claim gave a wrong impression about his finances, which may have drawn the attention of tax officials.
