Warri Crisis: Ex-Reps Member Slams Senator Dafinone Over ‘Reckless, Divisive’ Comment

Former Warri Federal Constituency lawmaker, Daniel Reyenieju, has blasted Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) over his remarks on Saturday’s violent clash between Itsekiri and Urhobo youths in Warri.

Dafinone had condemned the violence but described the attack on the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) House as “an attack on the entire Urhobo Nation.”

Reyenieju, however, called the statement reckless, divisive, and unbecoming of a legislator, accusing Dafinone of prioritising a building over human lives and inflaming ethnic tension rather than calming it.

He urged the senator to “retraces his steps, temper his language, and focus on building unity,” stressing that Warri needs peace and inclusiveness, not further division.

The All Progressives Congress in Delta Central Senatorial District has thrown its weight behind the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came on Sunday during a Unity Meeting of party leaders and faithful, held in Ughelli, where stakeholders at all levels. federal, state, and local, declared unanimous support for both men, citing performance, leadership, and shared political vision.

The motion to adopt Tinubu and Oborevwori as the “sole candidates” for the 2027 elections was moved by Francis Waive, who represents Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Waive praised Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms and lauded Oborevwori for what he described as “astute leadership and performance” since assuming office as governor.
