  • Ghanaian Prophet Builds ‘Noah’s Ark’, Warns of 2025 Christmas Flood Despite Biblical Promise

A Ghanaian preacher, popularly known as Prophet Ebo Noah, has sparked widespread debate after completing the construction of a self-styled “Noah’s Ark” and warning that a catastrophic flood would begin on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. The prophecy, which first gained attention in August 2025 through a viral Instagram video, claims that a divine revelation instructed him to prepare for a three-year rainfall that would submerge the earth.

According to the prophet, the ark he built would serve as the only refuge when the foretold disaster strikes. His declaration drew significant attention and criticism, especially as it appeared to contradict the biblical account in Genesis 9, where God promised never to destroy the earth again by flood, symbolised by the rainbow covenant.

Hours before Christmas, Prophet Noah issued a final update on social media, stating that he had fasted and prayed for three weeks, called on people to repent, and interceded on behalf of Ghana and the world. Dressed in his signature brown sackcloth, he wrote that “whatever happens” was now in God’s hands, reinforcing his belief that events would unfold according to divine will.

The prophecy has generated mixed reactions across social media, with some followers expressing fear and concern, while others dismissed the warning as sensational and unfounded. The episode adds to a growing list of end-of-the-world predictions and apocalyptic prophecies made by religious figures across Africa, particularly during festive seasons.

The development also comes amid renewed public interest in doomsday predictions, following past claims by scientists and clerics about potential global collapse or the end of the world in the coming years. Despite the controversy, no scientific or meteorological authority has supported claims of a Christmas flood, leaving the prophecy firmly in the realm of religious belief and public speculation.

  • Sheikh Gumi Sues Two Facebook Users Over Alleged Defamation, Says False Threat Claims Endangered His Life

Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has instituted a criminal defamation case against two Facebook users, George Udom and Bello Isiaka, at the Chief Magistrate Court in Kaduna State over publications he says were falsely attributed to him and seriously damaged his reputation. The suit, filed on December 24, 2025, followed a Facebook post alleging that Gumi threatened Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, over ongoing military operations against bandits.

According to court documents, the defendants allegedly published a statement claiming that Gumi warned that the minister’s family in Zango Kataf, Southern Kaduna, would be eliminated if military offensives against bandits continued. Through his lawyer, Suleiman Lere, Sheikh Gumi categorically denied ever making or endorsing such remarks, describing the publication as malicious, reckless and deliberately crafted to portray him as a terrorist sympathiser and a threat to national security.

Gumi maintained that the false claim gravely harmed his standing as a cleric known for advocating peace, dialogue and restraint, while also exposing him to possible reprisals from security agencies and members of the public. His legal team warned that the era of hiding behind social media platforms to spread falsehoods and destroy reputations was coming to an end.

The criminal summons cited provisions of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017, under which the alleged offences attract serious penalties upon conviction. The case has further drawn attention to the growing problem of misinformation and defamation on social media in Nigeria, particularly against high-profile figures.

Sheikh Gumi, who has previously engaged armed bandits as part of peace-building efforts in northern Nigeria, reiterated that he stepped back from such engagements after the federal government designated bandits as terrorists in 2021. He stressed that while his past interventions were aimed at peace and economic stability, they exposed him to significant personal risks he is no longer willing to take.

  • Russia Accuses Western Countries of Promoting “Gender Garbage” on Children, Condemns What It Calls Monstrous Experiments on Minors

Russia has accused some countries of pushing dangerous gender policies on children, warning that such approaches amount to what it described as “monstrous” experiments being carried out on minors. The allegation was made by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, who criticised governments she said have turned controversial gender ideologies into long-standing state doctrine.
Zakharova argued that these policies are no longer limited to adult self-identification but are now being enforced through legislation and imposed on children from birth. She described the trend as a dangerous global shift, claiming it represents a moral and societal abyss that humanity is being led toward by certain political regimes.
According to her, the most alarming development is that children have become the primary focus of these policies, with some countries legally allowing the possibility of gender change at birth. She said such measures are unprecedented and deeply troubling, stressing that these “experiments” are being conducted not on others’ children, but on citizens’ own children.
While stating she would never directly compare current policies to the crimes of Nazi Germany, Zakharova nonetheless claimed that humanity has arrived at something “comparable in form,” arguing that it is paradoxically being celebrated in some societies as progress in understanding human identity.
Her remarks reflect Russia’s long-standing opposition to liberal gender and LGBTQ+ policies in Western countries, a position Moscow consistently frames as a defence of traditional values and cultural norms against what it views as harmful ideological experimentation.

  • Police Begin Screening Church and Mosque Worshippers in Borno After Maiduguri Suicide Bombing Kills Five, Injures Dozens

Security agencies in Borno State have intensified safety measures around places of worship following a deadly suicide bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri that claimed at least five lives and left dozens injured. The attack, which occurred around 6pm on Wednesday at the Al-Adum Mosque in Gamboru Market during Maghrib prayers, prompted authorities to introduce mandatory screening of worshippers entering churches and mosques across the state.

According to reports, the Borno State Police Command has deployed more than 1,000 officers across Maiduguri and other strategic locations to ensure heightened security during the Christmas season and ongoing Muslim prayers. Police spokesperson Nahum Daso confirmed that security personnel have been stationed at churches, mosques, recreational centres and other crowded areas, with worshippers now required to undergo security checks before gaining entry.

Daso explained that although security arrangements were already in place prior to the attack, the latest incident forced law enforcement agencies to further strengthen their presence and operations. He noted that the affected area was immediately cordoned off after the explosion to protect the public and allow emergency responders to carry out their duties.

The police described the operation as a joint effort involving all security and emergency response teams, stressing that full security domination would be maintained across key locations. Residents were urged to remain vigilant, be cautious of their surroundings and promptly report suspicious activities or individuals using designated emergency numbers.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric, inhumane and a desecration of the sanctity of a place of worship. He expressed sadness over the loss of lives and injuries sustained by worshippers, assuring residents that adequate security measures had been put in place to prevent further attacks during the festive period and beyond.

  • Trump Attacks Democrats as ‘Radical Left Scum’ in Christmas Message, Claims Economic Boom, Strong Borders and Record Security Gains

U.S. President Donald Trump sparked controversy on Christmas Day after using his holiday message to sharply attack Democrats, whom he labelled “Radical Left Scum,” while highlighting what he described as major economic, security and policy achievements under his administration. In a post shared on X, Trump wished Americans a Merry Christmas but accused his political opponents of trying—and failing—to destroy the country.

Trump claimed his government had reversed several policies, insisting the United States no longer has open borders, weak law enforcement, or policies allowing men in women’s sports and widespread transgender inclusion. He boasted of what he called strong economic indicators, citing a record stock market, growth in 401(k) accounts, low crime rates, no inflation, and a reported 4.3 percent GDP growth that exceeded expectations.

The president also credited tariffs for generating “trillions of dollars” in economic growth and strengthening national security, arguing that the U.S. has regained global respect. He ended his Christmas message with a patriotic sign-off, “God Bless America.”

The remarks followed a recent year-end national address in which Trump criticized former President Joe Biden, blaming his administration for inflation and immigration problems. Trump claimed he inherited economic and border challenges after the COVID-19 pandemic and accused Democrats of creating “mayhem.” He further asserted that the U.S. is experiencing reverse migration for the first time in decades and claimed he helped resolve multiple international conflicts, a point he has used to support his call for a Nobel Peace Prize.
